A quick stay

I stayed at the hotel only for one night as I was on my way to Santo, The room was small and didn't feel very clean. It was cheap, though, so you get what you pay for.

Good points Bad points

Good points: Good facilities, nice pool, very friendly staff and some entertainment laid on - Saturdays has an excellent Firedance show! Excellent coffee too :-) Bad points: Room very small for price and poorly maintained. Lots of dogs barking at night in the local area. A good walk town. Get a taxi back unless you're feeling fit enough to walk up the steep hill. Overall: not a bad hotel, but not cheap - you could probably do better for $100 / night.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The larger ensuite 'Orchid' rooms are still quite small for $105/ night and you would be much better off booking their studios apartments for an extra $15/night, especially if you are staying more than a couple of days.

cell-like room

The single room can be best described by what it didn't have: No hook, rail, cupboard or anything to put your wet swimmers or towel on! Just a canvas chair, going mouldy from all the wet stuff put on it! Ditto bathroom (shared) had no hot water, no shelf and (wow!) one cuphook for towels ...nowhere to put clothes out of spray zone. No room. Narrowest room I have ever had, I would not be able to lie in it acrossways, with a TV bang in the middle of the wall, wall mounted, so you hit your head when walking past. No reading light, no coverlet or spare blanket. No view, very small window. All that's OK, I've had worse....but it was not particulalry cheap! Clean enough. Great pool.

Value for Money

Good value for money as a medium-range resort. A few minutes walk to the seafront. Cafe by the pool is relaxing. Free wifi is a plus. Good fire dance show. But staff have much room to improve. Pacific inefficiency is in the air. Every room has some defects but the staff try to convince you that it is normal, or it will be fixed asap. (of course that's never the case) Reception also conveyed wrong message from tour company which resulted in misunderstanding of tour availabilty. extra five percent charge for using credit card. Pool doesnt look clean to swim in. restaurants too few choices.

Value for the money

Nice and clean room. Shower needs improvement and breakfast needs more varieties as its a tad boring the same food every morning. Great reggae night and really fantastic fire show on Saturday.

Stay clear of the Indian restaurant SPICE!!!!!! A rip off and had a dodgy stomach after a night there. Also just down from the hotel AH TONG chinese restaurant is disgusting!!!!! Recommends the Joe Vietnamese restaurant right in town. Delicious noodle soup.

Nice place to stay in Port Vila

Three friends and I stayed at Coconut Palms recently and we very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and tolerated our cramming four people into our one room. The room was tidy and cleaned well each day, and also had air con - absolutely essential given the heat. Though we were never given the right number of towels, the front desk were always more than happy to provide extra when asked. The restaurant at Coconut Palms is pretty good value, and we made use of happy hour each night. Another highlight was the entertainment arranged for guests, including a great reggae band one night, fire dancing another, and a kava ceremony. The hotel is about ten minutes walk to the main street of Port Vila, and a short bus ride from the airport. I'd certainly recommend Coconut Palms to anyone travelling to Port Vila in the future.

Xlnt hotel wld def recommend

This hotel is friendly and clean. There was a problem booking thru the site as I was meant to get a king bed, but they don't have any. Initially the hotel asked me to pay more, but was sorted quickly with no additional payment. Highly recommend this hotel as good value for money. They also have free entertainment most nights - Kava making and free tasting, AWESOME free fire show, etc. great pool and reasonably priced restaurant on site. Great for singles, families with kids and couples. Would def stay again.

Fantastic getaway

We booked a double superior orchid room. Very comfortable and the service was great. Some of the meals could have been served a little hotter, they were only warm when they reached our table. Neighbourhood dogs were a bit annoying at times but not too bothersome. Transport services and tours were great. Great value for money.

Good friendly, much more than basic

Great hotel with very friendly and helpful manager and staff. The breakfasts (included in the price) were substantial and tasty. I found the public facilities very good, but the room facilities were not proportionate. My room was smallish (not a big problem in itself, just seemed out of keeping with the overall higher standard of the hotel). I would have found a small set of drawers useful, or somewhere to hang some clothes.
