Love Seattle but know this

Love the location of the hotel. It's close to the monorail and you take it downtown or to the light rail. There is a Starbucks right beside the hotel if you need a pick me up. The roof top has a wonderful city and bay view if you are looking for a view or a great picture. The Safeway (grocery store) is right around the corner if you need anything. Dick's is across the street and a must eat in Seattle. The down side of this hotel is the elevator. It has a mind of its own, you may think you are going down but end up on floor six. I suggest staying on a ground floor or no more than the third and take the stairs. And ask to not be on the left side of the hotel for there isn't a view.

Don't try to walk up the hill on Queen Anne and if looking for a close bar go to Ozzies!

Mediterranean Inn

Hotel staff were warm and friendly despite being very busy on arrival. The room was spacious and well appointed. Facilities were good and was a bonus to have a Starbucks as part of the building. Rpm was very comfortable, modern and well maintained. The only negative was having to pay for internet. Ideally located in Queen Anne to some great restaurants - The Masonry was a standout out - great food and great selection of beers on tap.

Great stay at The Mediterranean Inn

I feel like I got so lucky by staying at The Mediterranean Inn because it was my first time to Seattle and I did not know anyone or much information about the neighborhoods of the city. It turned out to be a great location and the hotel itself was very nice. It is a 3-star hotel with a 4-star feel to it. The Mediterranean is very close to Seattle Center and the Space Needle. Walking there from the Inn was a breeze. The Queen Anne district where the Inn is located is great for food markets, bars and restaurants. The city has a great transit system so I could easily get downtown or the waterfront from a bus stop not far from the hotel. Bring your walking shoes. Seattle is a walking city and driving cars is expensive since there is so little parking available. The rooms have kitchenettes (which was one of the most important features I was looking for in a hotel). I was able to purchase groceries and bring them back to the room to prepare inexpensive meals since I could not afford to eat out for every meal. Upon request, they give you a kitchen "kit" with plates, bowels, utensils, a hot plate, a pan, a mini cooking pot and a drying rack at no extra charge. It was perfect. There is also local pizza delivery. The room I had had a great view of Puget Sound with the ferries coming and going. And if I wanted to see other views all I had to do was go up to their roof to get sights of the city. The roof has floor planks and railings and chairs to sit and relax. It was especially nice and romantic to go up to at night. I felt very safe at the Inn. There is always several attendants at the front desk as well as cctv cameras that can be seen on a big monitor behind the front desk. The room has card locks and bolt locks. The cleaning staff respects your wishes if you leave the Do Not Disturb Sign outside your door when there was one day I did not want them to clean the room. In the rooms they provide the guest with a small safe in the closet that the guest can program a personal code. I felt safe leaving valuables behind that I just could not carry with me.The garage is gated and monitored that only cars with the hotel's parking pass are allowed to park in there. The elevators are very clean and the lobby is modern, clean and comfortable. The workout room is really nice and up to date and there is a fresh ice machine and several vending machines available. The cleaning staff did a great job and I was happy to leave them a tip at the end of my stay. So if you haven't guessed by now, I had a really good stay and a lot of fun in Seattle!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

I'm not sure I should have rented a car because the transit system is so good and parking is so expensive that the car sat in the hotel garage for three days (which costs money too). There is a monorail that goes straight from the airport to downtown. The only problem would be hauling my luggage around which was heavy. So unless I want to see cities outside of Seattle, e.g. Everrette, I probably won't be renting a car next visit and saving a LOT of money that way.

Very nice inn, good staff

We stayed here for the Seattle marathon--perfect, within 1/2 mile of the start. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But be forewarned that "fully stocked kitchenette" means "fridge and microwave" (which I consider standard room amenities, not a kitchenette!). Since I needed to cook my own meals for my race, this was almost a problem, but the staff were great, and brought up an "extended stay" basket that had a hot plate, pot, and dishes for 2, so we were able to cook the food I wanted for my pre-race meals. Thanks to the staff for being so helpful in this regard, we were very pleased. Otherwise, the rooms were nice and clean. We faced west, away from Queen Ann Ave, and our room was quiet. The rooftop terrace was a nice way to look over the town and get a read on the weather, and we enjoyed our stay a lot. We'd stay here again. Altho the $5 fee for the internet seems silly, when it is free at Starbucks downstairs. C'mon, wifi should be standard with all rooms these days!

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk about 2 blocks to the Bartells and rent a cheap DVD from the red box there for the in-room DVD player. The inn gives you free popcorn--perfect for a relaxing night in!
