good deal hotel

Hi, we have enjoyed this hotel for years because of its convenience AND because parking was included. We are disappointed that you have made the cost of parking an additional price.

New York great trip

Me and my husband stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. Hotel located at Hells Kitchen the heart of Manhatten,it called also Theater District 10 minutes walk from Times Square and main attractions. Subway also located near the hotel. Room was comfortable not too small and not too big. Normal bad, bathroom was normal size. Staff very helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

Travel Inn New York

Decent sized clean rooms with the added bonus of a fridge and microwave, no room safe though. Bathroom was very small but useable. Pool on third floor. Looked OK, but can't really comment as did not use it. Front desk staff were very unhelpful. We checked out very early in the morning for a flight and asked them to phone for a taxi. They would not and said they did not have a number. What hotel does not have a number for taxis? Basically they want to sell you their overpriced car service. Hotel in good location. Turn left for Times Square and right for the river where you can get boat rides and see the Intrepid Air, Sea, Space museum. All are about 7 mins walk.

Central but terrible customer service

First, the reception service is non existant. You have to beg to get an answer. They are never ready to help. They don't smile, don't say hello, goodbye. It's not that they are too busy, they just DON'T want to be nice. When I said hello on the morning of my departure, no answer from the older indian guy (the only one there) and no answer when I said goodbye. It's like he forced himself to keep his mouth shut. He was making an effort of ignoring me. They have a problem. I do not know what it is but it's a problem. Is it jealousy, hate towards tourists ? or simple frustration, cannot figure out. But for sure they have no education. Regarding the food room service, it is good, reasonable I was surprised. Regarding the location, it's central but not that to the train station so it's quite a lot of walking. Regarding the bed, it's a bit too small and very comfortable compared to the comfort Inn at la Guardia Airport. There is not enough lightening in the bathroom, the cleaning lady one day replaced my towels and one was stained. Overall I must say it is clean but these are important details. For me the worst of all was that my room was very cold although it's May. I slept with a jumpsuit. I figured out that part of the cold coming into my room came partly from the outdoor swimming pool door that was kept open most of the night. I put a towel at the base of my door to keep the cold from coming. It didn't change the problem entirely. The furniture were cold when I laid my hand on it. For the price of the room (not cheap) the wifi could be included as well as a breakfast. No tee, coffee in the room. I'll never go back. Enjoy your stay.

New Years Stay

Great hotel for Times Square.. We stayed the week around New Year and it was in walking distance to nearly everything we wanted to see... Shower over bath in our room so if you have difficulty with that check if they have rooms with separate shower... Didn't bother us... Friendly and helpful staff... Would definitely stay there again....

Large Comfortable Room, Tiny Bathroom, Noisy Location!

As you already know the price of hotels in NYC is absolutely ridiculous....accordingly this hotel offered a large comfortable room, but the bathroom was tiny! The sink basin area is so compact that it was difficult to even shave without my elbows hitting the wall! The hotel location is convenient but noisy from nearby construction and the train tracks running underneath the hotel. Through By NYC standards this place is a real palace! Convenient affordable restaurant next door with many excellent breakfast menu choices!

Central hotel for a good value

We were staying in Travel Inn for 3 nights, right near the Bus Authority, which was very convenient for us. Room was 368 on the 3rd floor facing the street but with the AC working we didn't hear any noise from the outside. The room is spacious with 2 double beds. Very clean, bathroom is big in size and clean as well. The only small thing that bothered us was the mattresses were very noisy (you couldn't move without making a squeaking sound, but it was very comfortable.# Times Square is just a 10 min walk from the hotel. You can get tickets for a Grey Line Bus Hop on Hop off. Some of the guides are very knowledgeable and funny. Right near the hotel is Madam Tussaud's wax museum #you MUST visit# and Ripley's Believe it or Not. It was so much fun. The hotel doesn't have a breakfast, but there are a million eateries around including Dunkin Donuts ,Subway, and BK. On top of that, there is a huge supermarket #Food Emporium) within a 3 min walk. Microwave and fridge was in the room. Do not expect 5-star hotel service from 2**. I don't understand people who are reading all the reviews before booking, leaving negative feedback because they are expecting something exceptional. For 152.00 per night near Manhattan, it's a good deal, but don't expect to be treated like you are staying at the Trump Tower. Nice, clean hotel with a perfect location. Hotel staff doesn't always go out of their way to help you. I'd recommend that if you have a question asking one of the people behind the desk in the morning and then wait at night, for example, to ask another person on duty. You may get two different answers. So beware. But I reiterate, for a $152 a night, don't expect employees to break their backs to help you. Surprisingly, differing from the stereotypes and rumors I have heard about New Yorkers, they aren't as rude, snobby, or ill-mannered as I once thought. When I was lost, and asked for directions, they were more than helpful. And this is coming from a Bostonian, so we know what rude is!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

In Manhattan, the further away from Times Square you are, the cheaper the food is. Also, Health Inspectors grade each eatery with a letter between 'A' to 'D' and 'Grade Pending', and this signifies how well maintained the shop and quality of the food is. It will be posted on the door or window of the eatery. So make SURE you are eating in a grade 'B' or above. You don't want to eat funny looking food or eating in a poorly cleaned place. You may be spending your vacation on a toilet otherwise #or worse, in the ER#.
