Great Location, Tiny Room

Just off Broadway, short run to Central Park, and just a few blocks from Times Square. Front desk was attended 24/7, staff were helpful and rooms were clean. But our room was so tiny we almost had to climb over our partner in the double bed to reach the door. That's something that didn't actually bother us too much, since we spend most of our time touring the city and running around Central Park. Breakfast was available each day, but you had to pay for it. And we couldn't make the wi-fi work. Solved both problems by doing breakfast at Starbucks right near by. All up, great value for the price we paid!

Great location but that's about all

I stayed here for 5 nights late Nov/early Dec. If you are checked into rooms 123-126 ask for an immediate room change. It is extremely noisy as you are located near reception, the breakfast room and also the luggage storage. Also, these 4 rooms are very close together and you can hear when someone in the next room goes to the bathroom. I only come across one friendly staff member, I didn't get her name. Location is fantastic, just a few minutes from Times Sq, the Rock and Central Park. I would think twice about staying here, due to tiny room size and noise.

6 Night Stay...

1. Hotel location is fantastic (in the heart of Times square) 2. The room was extremely small, but fairly clean. Bed was comfortable. 3. Everything is old and the hotel needs a makeover. In the meantime, a lot can be done with minor cost to at least cover the signs of neglect all over the place (rusty chrome fixtures in the bathroom, peeled paint around door frames, chipped wood on chest of drawers, etc) 4. The first night, Tthe heater (radiator) was broken and there was no heat. After going to the reception desk 3 times, they finally sent a maintenance man up who was able to fix it temporarily, but it didn't work again the following day. They gave me an electric space heater for the next 5 days. 5. Toilet flush tank kept leaking non-stop for the first 3 days with annoying noise. 6. Shower was the most horrific part. Water temperature kept fluctuating between ice cold and burning hot uncontrollably and within seconds. I could not take a decent shower in 6 days. Very annoying.

So Bummed

I liked the reviews I had read about the hotel, and was confident that I would have a good night's rest. The room I was assigned to was awful, and as soon as I got to it, I called the desk to request another one. The room was in shabby condition and so small that it felt like a closet. The bathroom was lovely, but I wasn't going to be sleeping in the bathroom. I was escorted to another room that was a touch better, but the bathroom reeked from mildew. The next room I was taken to was already occupied, as evidenced by very personal belongings out on the bed. Awkward, shall we say? The next try, the room was Spartan but acceptable. The bathroom was lovely, as was the first room's bathroom. It took me nearly an hour to get to a room that I hoped would work. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well, oddly with the help of the exceedingly noisy window a/c unit creating white noise. The tv was a very small old style tv and sometimes the remote worked and other times it did not. I requested an iron, and it took two requests to receive it. I used the iron on the mini sized ironing board, which was a challenge to maneuver since it had to be used on the bed as there is no desk or other furniture in the room to place it on. (The iron stained my blouse, which I didn't even try to report.) The staff tried to accommodate my requests in a pleasant way, but wow, what an exhausting experience. I will not stay there again.

Worse than a dorm room

Tiny room (#105) consisting of a twin bed and a cramped bathroom. Window unit AC didn't work until I pressed the reset button on the plug. Bathroom sink had hot and cold reversed on the faucet. Shower did not have a shower head and no water pressure (like somebody spitting on me from above). Water temp impossible to control - went from scalding hot to ice cold. Only good thing about this place is proximity to tourist sites. Thankfully I was only here for one night.

If you need a roof...

... and you want to be in the Theatre District and don't mind a tiny room with old-fashioned AC and TV, stained bathtub, bathroom with no window or vent or fan, poor sound-proofing, and a housekeeping staff that is very nice and very competent, but starts very early and noisily. It's an odd room in that the art on the walls and wallpaper and SOME of the decor look nice, but you get the feeling that half-way towards a renovation they ran out of money.

The hotel is perfectly situated

The hotel is perfectly situated for Theatres, restaurants, Central Park and sightseing tours. I would definitely stay there again. There is no mini-bar or tea/coffee making facility in the room, but there is no shortage of bars and restaurants in the area. The room was a good size by New York standards.

Very good hotel with friendly

Very good hotel with friendly staff and wonderful location (easy reach of Times Square). Not the biggest rooms, but clean and surprisingly quiet for New York (plus, you dont need a large room if you are spending your time sightseeing?). Best hotel I have stayed in New York
