Battery Park hotels
Stunning Battery Park is named after the remnants of artillery batteries that once protected New York settlements during this incredible region’s historic colonial days. The park, which is located in Lower Manhattan, one of beautiful New York City’s most breathtaking spots, commands an excellent view of expansive New York Harbor. Visitors famously enjoy strolling through Battery Park, admiring its various memorials, such as The Sphere, which was once the centrepiece of the World Trade Center plaza. The sturdy statue somehow survived the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and now stands alongside an eternal flame, honouring the victims of the devastating attack. Hardly a place of dismal spirits, Battery Park balances historical hotspots with charming vistas perfect for a family picnic.
- Board a ferry cruise to Ellis and Liberty Islands, home to New York City's iconic Statue of Liberty.
- Browse museum exhibits and admire the gardens at Castle Clinton, a former military bastion that protected the shores of colonial-era New York City from possible sea attacks, and later served as an immigration processing facility.
- Shop for the latest fashions and accessories at upscale shops like Anne Taylor Loft and Banana Republic at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City.
John F. Kennedy International Airport is located 37 kilometres from Battery Park along Interstates 278 and 678, though public transit can prove just as efficient when rush-hour traffic is underway. The JFK AirTrain and subway Line A transfers travellers to Battery Park in approximately one hour. Taxis, limousines, and rental cars are also widely available at the airport, and many hotels offer shuttle services for their guests. New York City's Lower Manhattan area is accessible via the famous Staten Island Ferry or via the Brooklyn Battery or Holland Tunnels.
