Excellent casino, wonderful view, but something off with room

The casino is wonderful - the classic Las Vegas machines doubly so. I will visit the casino again just for this. People in the casino seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely and it was good to see. The location can't be beat - right on Fremont St and all of it's attractions. I ate in two of the restaurants and they were both great. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. My room was beautifully decorated and had an amazing view of the Las Vegas hills. The TV was great, there was a mini fridge, and the internet was always flawless. Some minor problems with the hot water in the bathroom and water pressure. It was generally OK but I did have one day of not even warm water. I didn't complain (not sure what could have been done and it was working the next day). The elevators were indeed slow but they are working to get two more working soon (signs were posted in the hotel). My main issue is that I didn't feel very healthy after being in the room for a period of time. I can't necessarily blame this on the hotel - maybe I'm strange, right? I certainly didn't try to make the hotel staff fix my imaginary problem. I did discover the A/C filters were very dirty and I rinsed them in the tub - this seemed to help a little. But I don't know. Perhaps I had just been in Vegas too long and the general smokiness of the town was getting to me - I'm sure I am the minority with this complaint. It just felt somehow off to me. Also the bed was odd somehow. Maybe on a slant? One more thing - the noise from Fremont St bands is excessive - while I doubt people are coming to Las Vegas for quiet, if you do happen to want the odd quiet night in, then Fremont St area hotels are not for you. I feel there should be more of a warning posted for these hotels about this.

So so

Stay there for one night. First if all the parking garage is so tiny. If u drive anything bigger than a car your not going to fit. And the guest parking starts on the 8th floor. When u finally get to the elevator to the rooms the elevator can only hold 5 people with luggage. The whole tower smells like urine mixed with the air freshener they use in the restroom. $ u get what u pay for.

Very nice Hotel and great location

The "D" served as the host hotel for this year's World Food Championships. It is located right in the middle of the Fremont District. This hotel has all the usual trimmings of most decent Hotel/Casinos in Vegas. The staff is very capable and friendly, the rooms are very clean and the beds and bedding are fantastic. The only issue I have with the room is that there is no comfortable chair to sit on so if you want to chill in your room to watch a game you have either the desk chair or your bed. That is a small issue and overall the room was great.

The El Cortez Hotel has a 5 dollar Baccarat table while the others are all 25 dollar minimum. Great for learning to play. Nice dealers.

Great Fremont Street Location!!

Spent Memorial Day Weekend celebrating our son's high school graduation and 18th birthday! This hotel is in a great location on Fremont Street - right next to a bandstand and zipline! Make sure if you stay and are over 40ish, you request a room (floor 24 and above) on the "quiet" side of the building with a superior view of red rock mountains! The rooms have just been renovated with exceptional Serta beds; unfortunately, the pillows were awful and I tossed and turned all night trying to get comfortable. Some negative things...the casino is poorly ventilated, the parking garage is VERY small and on busy days, you have to ride up and down a couple of times to find a spot and the pool is just a tiny square. We stayed because of the fantastic rate for a holiday weekend but my boys made me promise that next time we're in Vegas, we'll stay at a "nicer place on the Strip".

Great location and overall hotel

This hotel has been newly renovated and is very nice. Location is the best on Fremont street! The only reason I gave 4 stars would be the pool, which we didn't use because of the time of year anyways. Other then that great overall experience! Will stay here again.

great room, great place......when finished with construction

Loved it there. We were the first people to stay in our room since the remodel. Beautiful room. They let our party of people check in at 7 am. great service. Staff was helpful, courtious, and always asked if there was anything we needed. Only draw back. Construction. Beating and banging starts at 9 am. So you sleep later than that as we did a few of our days there, then you may get that rude wakeup. Can't wait to try and stay when its done, loved it there other wise and still would recommend to all!
