Great room rates!

The hotel itself is very nice, we had a remodeled room but it did however have a slight mildew smell in the bathroom that wouldn't go away. We didn't have much luck at all on the hotel slots, but the rest of the shops and sights were lovely. The pool was very nice we enjoyed that very much. I'd rate the buffet we had for breakfast a little pricey for what it was, but the food was pretty good over all. If I had one suggestion I would say to make the Benifits from the hotel more known, have someone explain things maybe or a better phamplet explaining Bc we learned a lot of things a bit to late to take advantage. Oh yes...and coffee in the am in the rooms would be fantastic! Overall I would say we would stay again.

Not a bad location

I recently returned from my stay at the stratosphere and my first impression was happy it was on the strip and not too far from the airport but when I walked inside I was immediately turned off by the thick cigarette smoke in the lobby that you have to walk through to get to the registration desk and the LONG amusement park line at the front desk. After a long flight, I just wanted to check in and get to my room. During registration, I was hit over the head with a few surprise check in fees especially since I prepaid for my room. The room was nice and clean but the walls are thin and the doors slam shut. So I could hear hallway conversations and doors slams all night. Overall, my stay was just average.

Stratosphere

While celebrating my 21st birthday with some friends, we stayed at the Stratosphere for our entire 7 day stay in Vegas. As previous posts have stated, the Stratosphere is on one far side of the strip pretty far away from everything. Anytime we were to walk anywhere significant, we had to walk at least 3 miles- BUT, coming from Alaska, the weather was always amazing and the people watching was worth saving the $20 each way for a taxi. The only thing that happened not in our favor in the trip is when an upstairs customer flooded their hotel room, eventually causing our room (below it), to be completely soaked after a long day on the strip. In less than 15 minutes, we were completely moved from a basic room (with view of the strip), to a Grand Suite, free of charge. This was amazing! The only problem is, once one of our guest's laptops had glitches (because of water damage), the hotel stated that it was the fault of another customer that they cannot be held reliable for the damages. This to me, could've been handled in a entirely different manner. We had to go through the trouble of documenting, taking photos, waiting at the hotel for security to come, only to be told the hotel is not going to be held responsible. Besides that, Stratosphere was a great place to stay (price wise), and was more a money-friendly environment for first time gamblers, and drinkers.

Pros & Cons

There were parts of stay we enjoyed and others we did not. The room was the worst. Non-smoking room, but obvious others had smoked in there. Plastic bag around smoke detector. Cleaning crew covered it up with some chemical spray which made it impossible to even take a deep breath in. We called to ask for new room, but were told there were not any and to try back the next day. The next day they agreed to move us to new room, and would send bellhop to assist...in about 45minutes. We got own room and moved self, but had to wait in line with all others to get keys to new room. New room was much better, but rooms overall are extremely out-dated and bare minimums included with closet style bathroom with sink in bedroom area. View in one room was of a wall, and of parking lot in the next. Not located in great part of town, but there is a bus pick up right outside so make for convenient and cheap way to get around town and it is at least located on strip. The view from the top is great of course. We also enjoyed gambling there outside of it being really smoky smelling. It was never very busy, slots paid out nicely, and they had cheaper tables to play on. The buffet was also nice and with their free player card we were able to easily earn free buffet. Buffet was good and the staff in there was really nice and fun. So bottom line is I'd probably go back there to gamble and visit, but wouldn't stay there again.

Robotic staff

Hotel is in "less than comfortable" part of town. Beds were uncomfortable and noisy. Staff is very robotic and unfriendly, "deer in the headlight" looks. Got robbed at the ticket redemption machine by the ace club desk. My Wife asked them to call security and of course we got the blank stare. Security took over ten minutes to arrive, glad I wasn't being beaten to death.

Okay trip

I. Enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Front desk staff was awesome. Housekeeper(Aurora) had an unpleasant attitude. I asked for clean towels for exchange of dirty. With an attitude she handed my towels with a slight push to my hand. I attempted to hand her a full trash bag she got upset. I didn't need room serviced because it wasn't dirty. Work on vent control. I'm a nonsmoker. I smelled strong odors of smoke thru AC vent. Got sick from inhaling second hand smoke. Overall not bad at all. Thanks.
