Good alternative to pricey downtown chains

I stayed at the Hotel Buckminster for a conference held in Copley Square. Overall, the hotel is a good value, and the proximity to the Kenmore T station is a plus. Rooms are clean, and the fridge, microwave, and in-room safe are welcome amenities. My only niggle with the hotel is that the front desk could not break change for quarters for their laundry room ($2 per wash, $2 per dry).

Easy

Staff was very polite and cheerful. The carpet, elevators, etc are a bit dated, but there is also a homey vibe which is comfortable and unpretentious. The room was clean, the bed was great, and there was much more space than I needed. Would stay here again!

Pleasant stay

Although the fenway park lights could be bothersome, the hotel has perfecte comunications with the kenmore green line station nearby. Reaching Cambridge, Beacon Hill, etc was easy

Comfortable stay, good location

I arrived after midnight, but was greeted with very friendly staff. The room was small, but comfortable. Room had a big bed, a desk, a friend and a walk in robe with an ironing board and safe. There are a couple of great bars and restaurants on commonwealth st, just a block from the hotel.

Perfect situation

The Buckminster is perfectly situated for tourists as it is very near to a subway stop and a few blocks from the Charles River. The bed was very comfortable and warm. The continental breakfast helped to get the day off to a good start. It is excellent value for money.

In an age where La Quinta, Hampton

In an age where La Quinta, Hampton Inn and many other hotels even hostels are offering free wifi, giving 90 minutes (to be used in one block) per 24 hours seems money-grabbing. Josh from Saco, ME was very good at his job behind the desk, helping me find somewhere to stay in my budget when my plans changed and this hotel were full. The elevator was broken when I was at the hotel, but that was just unfortunate.
