The Koloa, Hi, Rundown
Located on the southern side of Kauai, Koloa, HI, is a very small town of less than 2,000 people. This town was the site of the first sugar plantations in Hawaii. Visit the Sugar Monument and learn about the history of sugar in Hawaii and how the industry shaped the state. See more of the past in Old Town, which has been carefully designed to look just like it did in the 1800s. Inside the Old Town Mall is the Koloa History Center.
There are also plenty of activities to do around Koloa, HI. You can bike and trek along the Koloa Heritage Trail or swim and sunbathe at Poipu Beach. Snorkelling and diving are also popular activities. The beauty of Koloa, HI, lends itself to horseback riding as well. Take the time to visit Spouting Horn Geyser, the Puuwanawana Volcanic Cone, or Keoneloa Bay archaeological sites. Don’t forget to reserve some time for golfing at Kiahuna Golf Club. Of course, the biggest attraction of any Hawaiian location is its natural beauty, and that is celebrated at the Botanical Garden. Commissioned by the United States Congress, the Botanical Garden showcases the native flora and fauna and local legends and customs.
When To Go
There are only two distinct seasons in Koloa, HI: Winter and summer. Winter is the rainy season with frequent storms and showers. Summer, on the other hand, sees only the occasional light rain shower. Lately, the winter storms have led to flooding and extensive damage. The summer remains the better of the two seasons, when even the occasional showers rarely require rain gear. Hawaii as a whole has a very temperate climate, which rarely gets too hot and almost never gets cold. This is one of the reasons the island has long been considered a paradise, attracting visitors from all over the world.
