It was just beautiful amassing. I enjoy coming here because it's like coming to paradise. The weathe

Yes it meet my expectation. The stuff where all polite courtios, very helpful at all times. I was impressed how everybody is so nice and friendle at all times to everyone even to people who are not so polite and are demanding. They do a very good job , all of them , from the reception to the cleaners. Excellent, keep up the goof work. Chrisrine

Overnight stopover

We stopped over en-route from Canada to Australia. We loved the location of the hotel, the breakfast was great, the staff was . The only drawbacks were that the bed was a double and sunk in the middle when we both were in bed. The room smelt musty but we addressed that by leaving the verandah door slightly ajar, although this allowed much traffic noise. The air conditioner was an old style window rattlers. Although it kept the room cool, it was very noisy

Fantastic staff but hotel is a bit run down

The hotel is about 800 metres from the beach. The hotel is ok but the bathroom was quite rundown and not clean but everything else was great.

Clean & Cheap

We stayed at the Gateway for 2 nights in transit from Australia to a Cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. We were not looking for luxury, just somewhere to sleep and recover from Jet lag before the cruise. The Gateway met our needs and exceeded our expectations. The price we paid was very good value, we had a room with 3 double beds and it was perfect for our family of 4, we could not find another hotel in Waikiki where the 4 of us could be in the one room, the kids each having a bed to themselves. Yes it was a very basic hotel, but it was clean and comfortable and a great spot close to the shopping strip, we would stay here again.

Hawaiian Escape

First time holidaying in Waikiki, Hawaii in February for 7 nights with my boyfriend and I must say I couldn't have been happier with the price we paid. Prices per night are an average of $100 if you book early enough. Don't except much from this price though. If your a picky person I would suggest to stay at Trump, Hilton or Sheraton but then except to pay over $300. This hotel is at a great location!! The main strip of shops, restaurants and boutiques right outside your door step. ABC Store on the lower ground. A beautiful park across the road which leads out onto Waikiki Beach. We stayed on the 14th Level and our view was amazing, even though there was a lot of traffic in Waikiki the noise was bearable, I'm sure other hotels would have had a bit of noise as well. Staff weren't exceptionally friendly, average 'Hi & Bye' gestures, didn't really go out of their way for us. Breakfast at this hotel is cheap in price and cheap in taste as well. Do not eat there. The food is very old and almost cold and not much for choice. Try a place called 'Cheeseburger Restaurant' about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. $5.99 Breakfast Special and amazing Burgers if you wish to dine for Lunch or Dinner. Hotel Pool was tiny and look uncleaned (leafs and bugs inside). If you wish to use a swimming pool just head over to another hotel like Hilton, Sheraton or Royal Hawaiian and use there's for free, especially during sunset. Rooms are clean however the furniture and bathroom could do with upgrading. Bath tub is rusting and ceilings are flaking. I upgraded the room to Level 16 (Penthouse) for an extra $20 a night and wasn't all that much of a difference in room size and amenities extra but it was Ocean-view and balcony was triple its size. Beautiful to lay around and look at the stars at night and admire the sunrise in the morning. Also I noticed there were no families with little children at this hotel, I think because all the other hotels have kids club and pools and this one doesn't, it would have been a let down for families but great for singles or couples. Overall I was happy with this hotel, not the greatest I stayed in and defiantly not the worst in the world. Price & Location = A+

Average and Ordinary

Room was clean but AC was very noisy, the toilet bowl was shaky, no coffee/tea making facilities except perculated coffee which we don't like. No tea spoon except plastic stirer in the the little pack with creamer & sugar. The staff were not very knowledgeable of the transportation services or facilities around the area. The lobby area very dull and uninviting, staff average....not helpful but OK. The only good thing about this hotel is its central location. Very close to the International Market place and other shops which the staff did not know.
