Very good

I dropped in on Hawaii from Australia for 4 days on the way to visit my daughter in San Fransisco. I was very pleased. As i went by myself i found i could have me time in the visit without leaving the resort. Even Ala Moana was only a 15 minute walk away. But everything i needed was at the resort and i loved the fact that i just walked out and i was at the beach. I also really valued the fact that there was a convenience store at the village with a great range of food and salads so i didnt always need to go to a restaurant. Also great that they let you have a room to change and shower after check in if you have a late flight which i did, 11.30 pm thus allowing me to have a full fun day. Thank you.

Perfection

Booked this hotel for our 25th Anniversary trip. Received a lovely photo frame as a gift for our anniversary. Also received an upgrade in room type. Staff were friendly and courteous. Room was AMAZING! It was big and clean and had a view to die for. It was the perfect start to our US trip. In actual fact, you don't have to even leave this resort, it has everything you need. Just loved it! The Luau they put on is wonderful - a definite must see.

Overall a great hotel

I recently stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for 12 days in December 2014. Overall, the hotel was great, nice pools, plenty of shops and restaurants on site, tour desks a plenty and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortably nice (Diamond Head Tower) but the building interior itself could do with a bit of an upgrade to bring it up to date with the other towers. As far as downfalls go, the cost of on site activities such as umbrella rental for the day or paddle board hire is quite expensive and the luau was a big disappointing. Reading about it online you'd think it was great but ours was indoors, the food was ok and the show was average. There were no fire dancers, I assume because the luau was moved indoors so at a cost of $100 AU per person its a bit costly. Having said that, I'm not sure you'd find much better in Waikiki so would go back but give the luau a miss,

There are some great dining options outside the hotel such as Eggs n Things, Bubba Gumps at Ala Moana Shopping Centre and the Cheesecake Factory. All are well worth a visit.

Great Hotel

Loved this hotel. We travelled with our 2 young children and they had a ball. The Lagoon was a hit.... So many things to do at the hotel. One thing to note which i didn't read anywhere, if you want to use the waterslides your children need to know how to swim as they will not allow them to go down with an adult.

Over rated, over priced, renovations happening

Check in takes about an hour in a queue, some other people we meet on a tour who were also staying there said they've never felt so unimportant ever in any hotel anywhere else in the world. You feel like cattle being herded into slaughter trucks. There is constant noise in the lobby and on all buildings with MAJOR works going on to all exteriors. There is hoarding on most areas with construction signs and workmen. There is renovations going on to the rainbow tower, which we were in and paid $309 plus a night, not including resort fees, local taxes etc etc etc.... They gouge you for cash at any possible moment. On the first night as there was nothing to stir the coffee with, usually you will get those little straws in American hotels, so I called guest services and they told me to go to the shop and buy some! It's a good 10-15 min walk to shopping or dining area, so it's based right at the very end of the Waikiki beach, the lagoon pool is freezing, we actually spent very little time there and for the money should have stayed at trump hotel which is closer to town... Friday night fireworks were good .......

Absolutely disappointed

This whole complex is under renovations, there are workmen all over the place, If your expecting hilton honors points for your stay you won't get them because you didn't book direct with the hotel. I booked an ocean view room in the rainbow tower, which I got, room is very average and not at all worth $300+ a night plus $30 resort fees a day. There is a coffee machine in the room with coffee and two packets of sugar, but nothing to stir the coffee with, I called guests services and was told that they don't supply spoons or stirrers to the room and to go buy some from the shop, they then hung up on me! Just so disappointed as I expected more from the hilton group.
