Just right

From the moment you arrive you are welcomed by extremely pleasant and helpful staff and during our 7 days this was the same for all staff throughout the hotel. Well layout apartment and air con worked well Close to ABC stores and walking distance to Waikiki beach Bus stops just outside to get around Honolulu only $2.5 each way Plenty of good restaurants nearby

Adequate Hotel, but nothing flash

Hotel was comfortable, but ageing. Location was not completely out of the way, but for the price, you could get a better hotel central to the beach. Extra charges for incidentals at the end of the stay and the wifi was terrible.

Great value for money

Spent 13 nights here, 24 Feb to 9 Mar - on the fringe of downtown Honolulu, so less expensive but within easy walking distance of Waikiki Beach and shops. Bus Stop right out the front takes you everywhere. Recommend a room with a full kitchen as you can save money by preparing your own meals at home ! Pool was refreshing but should be open longer than closing at 7pm. The only downside is an 'amenities' fee of USD$20 per night (charged by most hotels in the area) which is a bit of a con as that should be included in the room price. The $20 should include free use of the laundry but it doesn't and you have to change dollar notes for quarters in the vending machine (it says that it accepts $5 notes as well but it doesn't!). No point in hiring a car in Honolulu as parking costs at the hotel are $25 per night! Take the bus! Very pleased overall with the location and service provided. I would definitely stay there again. Good views from the 17th floor too !

Not value for money

This hotel did not meet my expectations. The photos provided on the booking website were not a true representation of the room I paid for. The Ambassador has two buildings - one with only 8 floors and the other was a lot higher (not sure of the quality or difference between them). I was on the 8th floor of the shorter building and the quality of the room was terrible. There were rust marks in the bathroom, it had a very dated kitchen and appliances, the quality of the room itself was by far the worst in comparison to what was advertised. I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. I would not recommend it for the price they charge. The only positive is that the lobby staff were lovely.

Some where to sleep.

The Waikiki strip obviously changes over time, I'm sure at one point the ambassador was closer to the action. The place is dated but the staff tries their best to keep it going. The hotel has three elevators, most of the time only one per day seemed to be in service. The wait time for an elevator often took ten minutes or more. Several times the elevator call button had to be pushed more than once to get it to your floor. The pricing was right up there with those that were right on the beach which seemed a little high since there is a limited ocean or city view. Not a place I would spend much time relaxing in but a good place to sleep and store your things while visiting the oahu island. Maid service was good but they kept leaving only two sets of towels in a room with two double beds which could potentially house four people.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

A Green line Bus trip- Cost $20- great to see the countryside outside Waikiki- best $20 we spent on sight-seeing. Can highly recommend.

Desperately needs upgrading

Very tired rooms. Bed too small for two of us so had to sleep separately. Extra costs for everything. Not able to get hotel parking at all and had to park in building over the road, at least it was cheaper. Very commercially run with focus on money gathering, perhaps they could spend some on bringing the hotel up to the 21st century. Having travelled through Canada for the past month we were looking forward to a couple of days relaxation before heading home but this was the worst and amongst the most expensive of our accommodation by far.

Reasonable hotel to stay

Only stay for a night, but the hotel is in a very good location, walk distant to shops and food stores, a bit far from Waikiki beach.
