Dining

Maxine Restaurant & Bar
The Maxine Restaurant at The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is open and serves breakfast all day long! The Challah bread French toast is already known to be the best on South Beach. Located in our North building the restaurant, caf, and bar is a great place to people watch while enjoying cocktails and delicious treats.
FKU Fung Ku
FKU Fung Ku is an eclectic mix of sushi and Asian food with a real kick. The menu ranges from Seabass to Japanese Red Snapper Rolls, and you'll definitely want to cleanse the palate with signature sake cocktails like the Tokyo Rose or Japanese Jade. The delicious and affordable fare is served amidst decor that is just as impressive. Partnering with famed artist Lebo to showcase his work, this sexy mod-Asian bistro will offer a complete experience for your senses. As the choice of unique establishments offered becomes increasingly limited in Miami Beach, travelers can continue to rely on the South Beach Group as the source for lifestyle hotels and restaurants that are always original and interesting.

Staying for business

It was different from traditional hotel. It was modern and sleek, but it was comfortable at the end. The shower and bathroom looked like a college dome, but actually they were functional. The beach is 2 blocks away and many restaurants are in walking restaurant. The hotel does not have a business center, but the front desk helped me to have my document to be printed. The hotel does not have a parking lot neither, and it costs $35 per night for valet parking and it charges resort fee each night even though I didn't use the resort facility at all. So, be prepared for extra costs. The only thing they don't have in the room is (facial) tissue paper. The refrigerator made a loud sound once every night, so I woke up from the sound. You can hear the voice/noise from the hall way very well. However, these were minor things considering all the other comfort and functional elements.

Clubby South Beach Hotel

Was there for biz travel and so asked for "quiet" room... It must have been an inside joke among the staff - was put in a room right above the bar! Hotel has three buildings, was in the middle building where the lobby is a bar with music and happy hour every night. Music is played till a little before midnight every night. Basically, would work for vacation if you are looking for a clubby vibe with older folks reliving college frat years. Not really for business. Was attending a conference and out for after-conference dinners/activities each night - so in the end it didn't matter much so didn't bother to change rooms. Still, this place is really not for the business traveler and would not go back... Trying to hard to be clubby cool... Would not be appropriate for travelers with kids either.

Catalina Hotel,South Beach,Miami

Myself and a mate stayed for two nights while in Miami for the football. The hotel is in a great position with two adjoining buildings containing rooms and two restaraunts serving excellent food,- fung ku(asian) & Maxines(multi cuisine). The room was clean & comfortable although not huge. One pleasing thing is the complimentary drinks which are served between 7&8pm every evening of your stay.Vodka,Gin & Rum with mixers only(no beer).A great start to any evening!! The pool and relaxing area on the roof and a second pool make for an all round top hotel destination.

Perfect hotel and location for the price !

We had the best experience with a hotel in Miami ever ! The staff is amazing, always trying to help us. They have free bicycle, free shuttle to local shops, free MIA airport shuttle, 2 pools (one on the roof), free beach towels and chairs. The bed was king size with a great mattress. The location is also great. They are 1 block from the beach and 2 blocks from Lincoln Rd. I've been to miami couple times to different hotels, from 2 to 5 stars and this one was the best we ever had over there ! From now, we will only book this hotel when we decide to go to south beach.

Trashy

Stayed here for 3 nights while in Miami. They blast the music every night from the bar in the lobby so loud that it sounds like you're standing next to a giant speaker in your room. I get that a lot of people in Miami come to party but if you're in need for a quiet night for any reason YOU WON'T GET IT HERE! The rooms are also pretty scrappy and very small. Got charged for $6 for a bottle of water from room service that I didn't drink. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.
