Cheap, but decent

Although the hotel might be in need of some refurbishment the location is good, easy access to all sides of the city, staff were nice and we got all we needed. The highlight is definitively the elevator. Worth a trip on its own.

Worst experience

I'm the type of person that does not mind staying at cheaper hotels since I like to stay on a budget. I even think hostels are fun to stay at.However, staying at the place was the worst experience. Don't be fooled by the decent looking pictures or how everyone says it is in a great location. Seriously, spend $50 more and go somewhere else. I never felt more disgusted and cheated out of my money before. There is no place to park so have fun walking a few blocks with all of your luggage to get to the hotel. There are homeless people EVERYWHERE that will make you feel VERY uncomfortable. I been in sketchy areas but this one tops them all. Across the street was a Carls Jr. and the person working there told me and my friend to hurry up and go home because it was getting late and dangerous with all of the homeless people gathering around. Going to the room does not make much of a difference either since its just as awful as the streets. It's smelly and the beds are not great to sleep on. Please do not go here and spend a few more dollars else where. I mean if you want to stay here for a day I guess it would not be that bad but if you are planning to tour san fran and stay for longer than a day I strongly advise you to go somewhere else. We even had to leave a day early because it was just way to horrible. I can't believe places like this exist.

Perfect for single travellers

I was in SF for nine days to attend a conference at the Moscone center. It only took me a few minutes to walk to Moscone, and pretty much any restaurant, cafe and bar. It's close to everything. I would stay here again.

8 days at san francisco

It is a centenary hotel, but the location and price are excellent and the crew staff are very polite and kind. Good for business or for people travelling alone, needing just a place to rest, with a clean bathroom, shower (you can choose private or not) and a confortable bed. Internet access was excellent and free. Forget TV. Breakfast was just what I wanted: a good cup of coffee and a variety of fresh donuts. The room smelled a litle too much, but this can be solved by keeping the windows opened for a while. They could use some cleaning product or spray to minimize this. Not recommended for families, because of the depressing view of the people outside, specially during the night.

Great Value

This hotel is in a bad area of San Francisco, but steps away from BART. It is the cheapest hotel in the city and while the staff do a great job of keeping it clean, it is old. The rooms have a sink but the toilet and showers are down the hall. The beds are old and cheap. The TV is old and very small. The staff were great. Everyone was very nice and helpful. They were always willing to offer suggestions and advice. They were the best part of the stay. Elsa had a bright smiling face every time I came back to the hotel.

Colder in the room than outdoors

The room was freezing the whole time. We had to go to bed wearing winter jackets, hats, gloves, and extra socks. Even then, we slept poorly because of the cold. One night I went to the front desk in full winter gear and asked that something be done about the temperature. The front desk staff said that the room heater goes on and off so that the room does not overheat, and that he could not change the setting. (It was December and there was no chance of the room overheating.) He offered extra blankets, which really did nothing because they were so thin. Then he told me, "Just get used to it." That's just not acceptable. It was a miserable stay. To make things worse, the wireless internet only worked in the lobby (and was slow to boot), and the complimentary breakfast was a box of sorry-looking doughnuts. Be kind to yourself and don't stay here.

It could have been cheaper

With just a doughnut as breakfast, rusted basin, smelly room, I do not mind staying here if it could have been cheaper. The location is not bad, though.
