Poor service, okay room, shady location

We turned up at the hotel and the staff had no indication of my reservation nor my payment and instruced US to ring the hotel booking company to sort it out. When we finally got our room key, the room was average with usual amenities. Pillows were uncomfortable and wifi was unusable (took 10+ minutes to connect and then couldn't hold the connection enough to even download a basic webpage). The hotel has many many rooms (4 triple storey buildings). The fridge in our room completely froze all of our drinks with no way to change the setting. Hotel provided shuttle service to airport, seaworld and zoo at $5 USD per person, one way. This was arranged mutually with the friendly driver in the hotel lobby. The neighbourhood, while scattered with many fast food outlets and a supermarket about 300m down the road was admittedly scary to walk along, even in broad daylight. Smashed glass, broken paths and many shady characters roaming even in the hotel complex. Wouldn't recommend.

Good location for Sea World

This was an ok motel. The pictures looked a lot nicer than the actual motel. All the rooms are outside. The room was clean enough, I found an open sucker under my bed (Gross). Aside from that it was adequate for the 2 nights I stayed there. The staff was really nice and it was fairly quiet for how many room there are. Not in the greatest area but we never felt threatened or afraid. Came with a little refrigerator and a small microwave. There is a 24 hour restaurant on the premises, a pool, and a laundry room. Not the best I've stayed, in not the worst.

On a very busy street, parking is very limited and cramped, rooms are dirty, light fixtures were not working. Carpet was very dirty. I would not recommend this hotel.

AWESOME staff, perfect location, amazing weekend

I wasn't really sure what to expect at first because of the mixed reviews, but I'm so glad my friends and I chose Wyndham. We were staying there for an event at the Valley View Casino Center, and this place was beyond perfect. It was within walking distance from the venue, a Target, a gas station, AND Phil's BBQ. We opted to stay in the junior suite double, which was just perfect. The room was nice and clean, albeit a little on the smaller side, but it was definitely worth what we paid. The staff was SO helpful and accommodating, they definitely made our stay that much more enjoyable. Justin and David specifically! I cannot thank them enough, I don't even know how many times we bothered them with special requests and they did their best to accomodate them all, even though I know it was an incredibly busy, sold-out weekend. You guys are awesome, thank you for making our stay as perfect as it was. I will definitely stay here again in the future if I'm ever back in San Diego!

Good to ok

The room was good except the bathroom fan didn't work. I reported the problem but staff didn't do nothing about it. I stayed for two nights and I had to ask for towels for the following day. The distances to Disney was great. I would stay again maybe because of the distance.

Family Vacation

Room was a little smaller than expected, but we didn't go to spend all day in the hotel. Location was ideal for beaches and Sea World. Only down side is that they don't offer the free breakfast anymore, and we found that out after we got there, so there was an added expense that we were not expecting. We were able to watch the fireworks from sea world from the door to our room.

The restaurant on the property was good. Go for breakfast, the morning staff is top notch, dinner staff was a let down after the breakfast experience.

Not a good experience

I booked a family suite (bunk beds with a king) for a trip to SeaWorld with the kids. When I arrived they only had a room with 2 double beds available for us. Even though I pre-paid and had a clear description of the room, they refused to change our room and said they were overbooked. It was late, we were tired, so we took the room with the assurance that we would be moved into a family suite the next day. As a consolation we were given coupons for a free breakfast at the attached coffee shop. The room was average at best. The air conditioner wasn't functional, and when maintenance turned it on (reset circuit) it was very loud. The beds were understandably tiny and walls were paper thin. The next day we packed up and went to the coffee shop. There is one item on the menu which the coupon is valid for (eggs and potatoes with bacon) and that's it, no substitutions. It's not a bad coffee shop, but we wanted pancakes and the coupons were worthless. I called in just after noon the next day to ensure we get the room we paid for, and not surprisingly the manager said they were again overbooked and we would be put into a double queen room. When I mentioned I paid in advance for a family suite, she apologized and said there is nothing she could do. Here's the kicker, she said that the type of booking we had is technically "run of hotel" which means that it is up to the hotel to determine the room based on availability. So caveat emptor. This hotel has absolutely no problem putting you in a room you did not book. Considering that most of us pre-pay with online booking sites, there is no recourse other than writing a review after the fact. Finally, and this has nothing to do with our experience with the booking, the hotel was photographed by the world's best real estate photographer. The grounds are nothing more than parking lots, the rooms are in various states of disrepair and the pool is nowhere you want to spend time. I'm shocked this is a Wyndham.
