The climate in Fairbanks is subarctic, meaning summers are short and winters are cold and very long. October and January see most of the annual snowfall. The best time to visit is between May and August, when temperatures are around a pleasant 25°C and the sunshine hours become very long.
Getting There & Around
The Fairbanks International Airport serves both cargo and passenger airlines, which include Alaska Airlines, Era Aviation and, in the summer, Delta and Frontier. There are direct flights to Europe. Fairbanks can also be accessed by rail via the Alaska Railroad and by car via Richardson from major cities in Alaska.
Once in Fairbanks, it is best getting around by car. There are car rental agencies at the airport.
