Lovely Hotel & Very Helpful Staff

Had a lovely one night stay in York. The hotel was lovely and had lots of character as the décor is sympathetic with the historic nature of the building. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will stay longer next time. Thank you Amy & Josh

Easy walk to York

Very friendly hotel 10minutes walk to York Minster. Good parking outside hotel the room size was a bit small as we had a lot of luggage but that wasn't really a problems as we only stayed one night would have felt a bit cramped if staying longer.Didnt like the way the shower worked . The breakfast was very good . Went into York and tried out the lovely old pubs also had to have yorkshire pud filled with meat veg and gravy a must when in yorkshire. The staff on reception where very helpful and friendly this hotel is worth every penny we paid and more so if you are going to York I don't think you would find anything better.

Nice small hotel

Hotel was great value for money, room was clean and breakfast was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that the room was not entirely as described, we were expecting a DVD player but this is not actually included. When we asked for one, the staff explained the TVs had been changed so DVD players had been removed, but this shouldn't be listed if there isn't one available for guests' use. Overall would recommend.

Great place to stay

Great place to stay, we had a four poster room and could not ask for more. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom and excellent breakfast. The hotel is a short walk to York centre and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Some slight signs of wear and tear in the room on the walls and ceiling but do not let this put you off, would highly recommend.

Close to Old City

Comfortable room, great location, good breakfast. Parking space is at a premium - we were not able to park on site. On street parking only available to 9am without a permit.

Boutique Hotel which needs more focus

Location of hotel is slightly off the beaten track - but walkable (like most places in York). New staff had been apparently recently hired, so not all systems where running smoothly with check in/out and at breakfast. Owner seemed very accommodating and the main house area is cosy. Wifi is in the main sitting areas. Parking was consistently full, but looked like all guests had a space if needed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend unless they don't mind rooms that are not carefully cleaned (old 1/2 full crisps packet in drawer), leaky ceilings (from bathroom above). Would I stay here again? Meh. It is fine, but I'm sure there is something better for the same price in York.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk the back way (avoiding the wall) to get to and from the train station. Faster and less congestion.
