Old world charm with a bit or luxury

At first a bit wary of what we may find as you arrive at this imposing building and venue. Very Harry Potterish. Awesome facade with a modern twist inside. Large rooms with modern amenities. Local was perfect and excellent for that early morning walk, with public transport just down the hill. Not really a tourist town with lots of souvenir shops - thank fully - but an excellent place to stay. Easy train ride to Glasgow & Edinburgh or St Andrews. Definitely going back.

disappointing

It was a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. However we had problems at night. The noise in the hotel from other rooms tv was unbearable. We had to call reception 3 timea before anything was done and it took an hour for the staff to sort it out. Even when they did, our sleep was still disturbed due to guests coming in at 1am making noise. Also, in the morning, we were impressed with breakfast until I found a hair in my bacon! Yuck! We thought we'd start the day with a liesurely swim in the hotel spa. This was also disappointing as the jacuzzi was shut off and unavailable to use. Overall we were not impressed with the hotel and expected a lot more from a 4 star hotel. We wouldn't book this hotel again!

A Great Stay.....

I spend alot of time travelling around the UK on business, staying in various hotels and this was one of the best. It's a short walk from the railway station and on the edge of the town centre - a 2 minute walk away. That said it is in a very quiet location. I had a large well-appointed room with all the amenities you would expect along with an especially comfortable bed, although I would class the en-suite as adequate rather than spectacular. The service I received in the bar and restaurant was excellent, as was the food, where a good choice was freshly cooked and well presented. I often ask myself if I would take my wife for a weekend to a hotel I stay in whilst on business. In this case the answer would be a resounding 'yes'. One small criticism was that my reception was rather clinical and didn't inform me of the excellent facilities which I had to discover for myself. But all in all this was a good experience and I would recomend this hotel to anyone who wanted a decent place to stay in Stirling for business or pleasure.
