Bed for the night

Very basic hotel. Had problem with key card and not much assistance from staff more interested in speaking to her colleague than me. Stains up wall in bedroom, shower curtain sticking to you while trying to shower.

Good location

This hotel is in a great location in Nottingham, only a minute or 2 walk to the city centre. It is a bed for the night...not particularly well decorated and looking very tired. Desk staff were helpful but not the most enthusiastic! Was ok for a night near to where we needed to be.

Good value for money

All comments considering £28 a night price-tag. Large room with great view of the city, comfy bed, decent hot shower, tea and coffee making facilities and amazingly spare pillow and blankets. Bathroom very worn, broken tiles and overly pungent cleaning chemicals which actually hurt your nose. Room was what I would call tatty but hey, £28 a night! In terms of getting a good night's sleep and having a decent hot shower the hotel ticks the boxes, that's all I'm looking for. I have stayed at other Notts hotels in this price bracket where I wouldn't even leave my dog so I was quite impressed with the Britannia. For families on a budget or business travellers who don't want to break the bank it isn't bad at all, especially at half the price of similar hotels.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Lots of parking on street just behind the Grosvenor Casino, about a 2min walk. Meters stop between 8pm and 8am and it's a good area with cameras.

Good for the price

Nice hotel. We had a smoker's room which was very big but with cigarettes burns on the carpet and mattress. There was a mattress cover on the bed and clean sheets. The bathroom could do with a deep clean. Attendance to detail was missing in general in the room. The foyer and corridors were very clean. I was booked in for 2 nights and my room was not cleaned or tidied, only the quilt straightened on the bed. The situation of the hotel, in the centre of town, was prefect for everything, night life, shopping, and visiting attractions with only a short walk to all places. The car park although it was a NCP had an exit straight into the hotel which I thought was fantastic. Also a discount form the hotel. We didn't eat at the hotel but thought the breakfast was well priced at £7 that included a full english. The only problem I had was that I booked through this web page for 2 nights and according to the hotel records I was only booked in for 1 but by presenting my e-mail of the booking I had no problem.

Fine For a Short Stay

The hotel was in a great location, under 5mins walking distance to the square, the room was quite clean BUT the sofa bed was filthy it had stains all over it so we had to share the double bed and the overhead lamp on one side of the bed was broken so I couldn't read my book at night when the other person wanted the light off, and there were big Brown stains on the ceiling. On the plus side there was a fridge in the room, ironing board and iron and television .Overall we had a pleasant stay and made the most of it

Britannia Hotel, Nottingham, Review

Firstly I was under the impression that this was a three or four star hotel from the photos shown, and not a two. I was going to Download Festival and I though it would be handy being not to far from the train station. It was easy enough to find from the train station as I had studied map beforehand (and its all uphill, although not what you want after a long day at a festival). I got to check in a bit earlier (12 noon), which was good. Room was a bit smaller than what I had expected, but it had a soft comfy bed, and was quiet enough apart from the fan. The carpets from the elevator and in the room were a bit worn or gruby in places and needed cleaning or freshening up. The windows were filthy and could have used a clean (pigeons must sit above them I think), but a clear view would have been nice. Bathroom was fine, even though bath/shower was only about half to three quarters normal size (skinny rakes only), but the shower was great after pulling a suitcase about all morning. All in all, if the windows were cleaned, the carpets "freshened" the bath "bloke sized" and fan sorted this wouldn't be a bad wee spot. enjoy!

great location but a bit tired

I stayed on business. But only slept in the room as was out until late and up early. Didn't take breakfast so can't comment. Room is a bit tired looking but had all the usual items. Towel rail had been disconnected! All in all Its a budget hotel I would stay there again though

You get what you pay for.

I only paid a little so I got what I paid for. Good location and handy for my needs. The room was tired and tatty and not over clean. The phone didn't work and neither did the thumb lock - a bit worrying as a single woman travelling alone. A tip: if you use this hotel - you must hang the 'please service the room' sign on the door - when I complained that mine had not been serviced I was told it was because I never hung the sign out. The bed was comfortable though.

Overnight stay

Not sure about the wooden sliding curtains in room 315 and the hotel in General does look very rundown. It served it purpose especially at the low rate I got it for but if I had paid fully I would be extremely disappointed which is a shame as it is so well located for shopping and bars.
