The Copthorne Hotel Newcastle is excellently placed for those either on vacation or business, with its Quayside location overlooking the River Tyne. The property is a short walk to the 'Castle' an archaeological site which gives the city its name. Also within close proximity of the hotel are the impressive All Saints' Church and the 'Centre for Life', - an educational scientific village which is very popular with families.

one night break

Hotel lovely, excellent customer service from all the staff, very friendly. went out for dinner but had a lovely breakfast in hotel in the morning. Room and dining area have a lovely view over the river. We were disappointed that the hotel no longer has a pool as the site advertised it with one but when asked at reception it was closed a while ago. Would definitely stay there again

Quiet comfort in a busy city

I enjoyed my stay, from arrival to departure. The car park is on site and connects by lift to reception, in reception the staff were welcoming. Nice surprise in store, I was upgraded to a suite. I ate in the hotel twice, the food in the grill was simple, well prepared and the servings generous. The grill manager who on duty, Paul, was superb and the staff equally so. The Hotel is situated on the river side walk between two of the bridges and next to the old part of Newcastle, this is worth exploring and very lively at night,. It is a fair climb up to the city centre, if you don't fancy the walk then getting there by Metro, Bus, or Taxi is quick and easy. The hotel is good now and, I was told, is due for a refit shortly.....I will be back.

Good value hotel

This hotel is right on the River Tyne in Newcastle with just the promenade out the front. Only downside is right by railway bridge and can be noisy when you open window as it gets a bit warm in the room and the air conditioning wasn't good - most of the 4 star hotels were located here though so you can't really get away from train noise. Staff friendly and overall cleaned to a good standard. Found pillows too hard but that's a personal preference otherwise you had everything you need and food is excellent although bar prices and restaurant prices quite high. You do have to pay £7 a night for parking which we found excessive. We booked a standard room but had no problem getting an upgrade before we went. It was conveniently located for us as we were going to Beamish which was only 8 miles away and near restaurants and bars with nice walks along the Tyne or you could just sit outside the hotel if warm enough which was very pleasant. Compared to staying in a B&B this was fantastic value for money and we would stay here again.

Quayside view

Although this hotel is a little aged the shower has power, the view is to die for and breakfast is great to give you the energy to climb that hill or stairs if you decide to walk it to the Railway Station, you can however walk along the Quay and grab a bus if you are not up for the climb.

Disappointing

Very cold would make a perfect duplicate of the Ice Hotel In Scandinavia but not as hot or as attractive. The reception hall was colder inside than out the bar was freezing even the rooms had supplementary portable heaters which were almost adequate. Only worth visiting during warm weather.

Definatly Gone Downhill

We booked into room 505 for new years eve, after staying here previously we were really looking forward to going back but this time the hotel really disapointed. Our room had no heating so reception who were lovely brought to electric heaters up for us and explained it was due to the renovations being done in the hotel and that was why is was not working...Why not let us know this in advance when we checked in ? The bedroom window was very hard to close so just be warned you may have an extra cold night in there. Dont get me wrong for the price we paid it was okay but if i had to choose again it would be the premier inn on the Quayside for room quality and also for the breakfast as its far superior to the copthornes Sorry x
