Faded glory

Staff were friendly but lacked warmth and would do well to go the extra mile to help guests in my opinion Many of the staff had strong, local accents and used pigeon English, which was hard to understand - what would this be like for a foreigner!?!? Lovely, old hotel that could do with some TLC to bring her back to her former glory

Great central location to Manchester

Loved the old vibe it gives out, considering it is over 100 years old! Very high ceilings and very quiet. Also very very close to tram station. 2min walk.

Weekend away

We've been before, and love this hotel. Staff very warm and efficient. Great atmosphere in the bar adjoining the lobby. We got a cheap deal on a room this time and it showed. It was a little cramped and the wallpaper was peeling. Bathroom was nice, would have been good to be offered body lotion with the shampoo soap etc.

good city centre hotel

we got a good deal for one overnight stay and perfect for visiting xmas markets. Staff very friendly and lovely atmosphere sitting in the bar area in the foyer in the evening. Room was ok but looked like the wallpaper had had some damp issues which spoiled the look pf the room - but maybe because we got a cheap deal these are the rooms used ? However it was lovely and quiet but the tea/ milk and water was very sparse - a few more tea bags would have been nice and a bottle of water each would have been good - but for one night night stay it was fine.

Fantastic location and opulent environment

The hotel was really lovely. Our room was compact but had everything we needed. The staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel really special. The Christmas decorations were glorious and there was fantastic atmosphere. The location was stunning and close to the Chrismas markets and relatively close to the main shopping areas

Midland Hotel Manchester - great central hotel

I've stayed at this hotel several times now and I'm always struck by the high quality of the staff, who are mostly locals unusually. Location couldn't be better right next to the Metrolink tram St Peter's Sq, so getting to Piccadilly station couldn't be easier. Food quality overall high and good value for money. Real leaf tea during the afternoon and quality biscuits. Great atmosphere and environment to meet people in the lobby area.
