Lowry Centre hotels
The Lowry Centre, commonly referred to as The Lowry, is a theatre and art gallery complex situated on the Salford Quays in Manchester, England. The centre is named for Manchester artist L.S. Lowry, a 20th century painter mostly known for his paintings that featured English industrial scenes. The modern complex was designed by architect Michael Wilford and was first opened by the Queen in the year 2000. The outside of the complex has a modern design with many public artworks, while the indoor space features 2,000 square metres of gallery space as well as two theatres and a drama studio.
- See a play, comedy or musical concert at the Lyric Theatre inside of the Lowry Centre and you will be treated to some of the top talent from Manchester and around England.
- Enjoy the interactive displays at the Artworks Creativity Gallery while in Manchester, an exhibit that uses multi-media to encourage visitors to participate in the exhibits.
- See works of oil, pastels, and watercolours that span the entirety of the artist's career at the Lowry Collection and take inspiration from the works of the man the Lowry Centre is named for.
The Lowry Centre is situated just outside the Manchester city centre as well as the Manchester Airport, so it is not hard to reach using public transportation. The easiest way to get there from the Manchester city centre is to use the Eccles line of the Metrolink tram and get off at the Harbour City, or Media City UK stops, both of which are just a short walk away from the Lowry Centre. There is also nearby train service as well as a number of bus routes that will take you near your destination.
