Heaton Park hotels
Heaton Park is not only the most historically significant park in Greater Manchester but also the biggest city park in all of Europe. The massive 260-hectare grounds are dappled with historical buildings and landmarks such as Heaton Hall, a sandstone and stuccoed brick home considered by some to be the finest ancient structure in all of Lancashire. Originally designed by William Emes, Heaton Park has been home to important public events and gatherings in Manchester since the early 19th century.
- Visit the Heaton Park Temple, the highest point in Manchester, and enjoy outstanding views from within the structure’s Tuscan columns and domed roof.
- Admire the triumphal arch of the Grand Lodge, which now serves as the park’s impressive entrance.
- Explore the lush gardens of the Western Pleasure Grounds where clear pools and lovely plants provide memorable tranquillity.
Those visitors more inclined toward nostalgia should ride the Heaton Park Tramway through the grounds as Manchester locals have been doing since the 1900’s. However, locals and visitors like agree that Heaton Park’s lush gardens, historic buildings, and stone crevices are best admired during a leisurely stroll. Located just a few kilometres from the centre of Manchester, the park can be easily accessed by all manner of transportation, from Metrolink, tram, and bus, to a hired car firing up the M60 motorway nearby.
