Contact Theatre hotels
The Contact Theatre in Manchester, England, started as a traditional theatre but is now anything but. Opened in 1972, Contact Theatre was originally a standard drama venue, but a major redesign in 1999 by architect Alan Short gave the building a distinctive modern look. Now, the building resembles a deconstructed castle. It features turrets and huge stacks crowned with H-shaped chimney pots. Today, the uniquely designed building is home to a wide range of multi-disciplinary arts. It is a venue for everything, from dance, to poetry, to spoken word, to art, and hip-hop.
- Come to the Contact Theatre for the Monday and Saturday Drop, where young DJs, MCs, actors, and poets from around Manchester get a chance to hone their skills.
- The Contacting the World Project, enjoy theatre companies from places like Malaysia, Rwanda, Brazil, and Palestine. During this special event, the Contact Theatre is given over to a featured international company.
- Learn about how to produce a show at the Technique Workshop, where people from around Manchester can learn backstage skills including lighting, stage production, and sound.
