Wandsworth is a district of south London located about 7.5 kilometres from Charing Cross. The area began as a series of medieval villages and later morphed into a hub for immigrants in the 19th century. Now Wandsworth is known for smart houses, trendy cafes, as well as its many common areas and green spaces. The green haven of Clapham Common draws young people from all over the city who are eager to escape the pollution and traffic of the city. The River Wandle, for which the area is named, enters the Thames in Wandsworth and provides an idyllic setting.
- Stroll through the lovely Battersea Park situated on the southern bank of the Thames and offering a glimpse of London wildlife as well as ancient mature trees.
- See the majesty of local birds at the London Wetlands Centre, where twitchers can be found stalking feathered jewels with binoculars and notepads.
- See the history of the area unfold at the Wandsworth Museum, featuring interesting exhibits and a great café.
