Vauxhall lies in central London just south of the River Thames. It’s an eclectic neighbourhood known for its gay nightlife scene. Affectionately known to some as “Voho,” this area boasts loads of popular gay clubs and was once home to the beloved pleasure garden, Vauxhall Gardens. Whilst the Gardens no longer exist, Vauxhall Park and the Vauxhall City Farm still provide a bit of nature in an otherwise urban landscape. Sometimes gritty, Vauxhall also has a sense of community, with Bonnington Square host to summer street parties and fantastic and welcoming local pubs such as the Priory Arms.
- Drop by the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, which has been around since the 19th century, for live music and dancing.
- Check out the visually interesting headquarters of the British Secret Intelligence Service (the MI6), located by Vauxhall Bridge—James Bond may not work in London, but real spies do.
- Eat some of the best Portuguese food in London at the ethnic eateries and cafes on and around South Lambeth Road.
