The area of Piccadilly in central London is actually a major thoroughfare running from Hyde Park Corner in the west across to Piccadilly Circus in the east. It is surrounded by some of London’s best known districts such as Mayfair and Green Park. The world famous Ritz Hotel, situated on the street, was the setting for a home of Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's novel of the same name. Piccadilly’s location is such that some of the city's most popular tourist attractions are within easy walking distance, or just a couple of stops on the tube.
- Take in a West End show from one of the many theatres in Piccadilly Circus or neighbouring Leicester Square in London.
- Spend lunch time around the corner from Piccadilly at the Trafalgar Square fountains under the imposing Nelson’s Column, and simply people watch for some intriguing sights and sounds.
- Watch a typical London tradition at Horse Guards Parade and see the Changing of the Queen’s Life Guard at 11am each day.
Central London streets are easy to navigate, and Piccadilly and surrounding areas are excellently signposted. However, other than on foot, the underground is by far the best mode of transport. Piccadilly Circus, Green Park, and Hyde Park Corner all have tube station entrances either actually on the street itself or very nearby. Leicester Square, Charing Cross, and Oxford Circus stations are also within very easy walking distance. Piccadilly is on the 22/N22 bus route, and there is never a shortage of taxis to choose from in the centre of the city.
