Photographers Gallery hotels
The Photographers Gallery is the first dedicated photography art space in not only London, but all of the country. The largest photography gallery in London, it’s the best place to see contemporary photography, as well as attend lectures by photographers, and pick out photography books to take home with you. And the café is stocked by one of the well-known London delis. The Photographers Gallery was recently renovated: the upper stories include large, light-filled galleries where photographs truly stand out and shine. If you are interested in contemporary artistic pursuits and photography, this gallery is not one to be missed.
- Take a workshop while you are in London: The Photographers Gallery offers classes in not only photography, but on using the work of photographers to inform other arts, and life in general.
- Take home a part of your trip by visiting London’s Photographers Gallery bookshop to buy hardback photography books that you can then showcase in your home.
- Stop at the café to enjoy a sandwich and a drink while you attend a free informal event relating to photography.
Visit the Photographers Gallery for free seven days a week. The café is open Monday-Friday. Close to the Oxford Circus tube station, the gallery can be found on Ramillies Street, a small brick alleyway a few steps from Soho. The building itself is a Victorian warehouse of old brick, recently partially covered in black terrazzo and black render, making it stand out on the street and be easily found. Get there by tube or several bus routes. As with other attractions in London, walking or taking public transport is recommended, as parking and traffic can be difficult to navigate.
