Oxford Circus hotels
Oxford Circus may sound like a place to see acrobats, clowns and elephants perform, but it is actually an exciting and lively intersection in Westminster, where Oxford and Regent Streets cross. Besides being two of the most popular shopping streets in London, these avenues are packed with historical buildings and landmarks. The layout for Regent Street was designed by John Nash, the architect who designed Buckingham Palace and most of Regency London.
- Splurge on a spending spree or just enjoy browsing some 300 shops on Oxford Street, the busiest shopping avenue in London and home to iconic flagship stores such as Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, and Debenhams.
- Tour some of the most treasured historical buildings in London along Regent Street, a landmark named for the Prince Regent George IV and one of the featured streets on the original UK Monopoly board.
- Explore the life and work of world-renown baroque composer George Frideric Handel at the Handel House Museum, located just 500 meters from the Oxford Circus.
Heathrow Airport is 28 kilometres from Oxford Circus via the A4 and M4 motorways, but visitors who don't have a car can get to the Westminster area of London using several airport transportation options including taxis and limousines and the airport express bus. The London Underground, or “tube” runs to the Oxford station right under Oxford Circus via the Picadilly and Victoria Lines. Alternatively, the 140 and 23 buses also run this route. The circus is a pedestrian crossing, so most visitors tour the area on foot or by bicycle after arriving via public transit.
