National Gallery hotels
The National Gallery is located in Trafalgar Square, a section of Leicester Square. This western borough, which also includes Chinatown and Piccadilly Circus, is known as London's entertainment centre with its assortment of theatres, cinemas, bars, cafes, and restaurants. The art displayed at the National Gallery includes pieces from the 1200s through the 1800s created by some of the most famous western European artists, such as Titian, Van Gogh, and Holbein. There are more than 2,300 paintings on display to visitors for free, but some of the temporary exhibitions, lectures, and community events may be booked for a fee.
- Learn how to draw or paint like the European masters through classes and workshops offered each month at the Education Centre in the London National Gallery.
- Enjoy London's most educational family-friendly activities, such as interactive story times, sketching and doodling workshops, the children's gallery, and special holiday events held at the National Gallery.
- Shop for exquisite prints, art books, and gifts in the gallery shops located in the Sainsbury Wing and the Portico and Getty entrances of the National Gallery.
Heathrow International Airport is 27 kilometres from the National Gallery using the A4 and M4 motorways. One can drive or take an express bus, light rail, taxi, or the tube (underground) from the airport to central London. The city's least expensive public transportation options are buses and the tube. Trafalgar Square is served by the Northern and Bakerloo Lines at Charing Cross station. There are plenty of trams, overground trains, and taxis to spare in this huge city, but a lot of visitors get around on foot or by bicycle when touring specific districts.
