London Chinatown hotels
Tourists can find London’s Chinatown along Lisle and Gerrard Street, between Shaftsbury and Leicester Square. Located in the Soho Area of the City of Westminster, Chinatown boosts off number of Chinese restaurants, souvenir shops, supermarkets and other Chinese-run businesses. There are many other ethnicities in Chinatown including Japanese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Nepalese, Italian and French shops and restuarants.
In February, the streets come alive with Chinese New Year celebrations. It is marked with colorful festivals, parades, and most importantly, large family gatherings. Firecrackers are burst and lion dancers perform to scare away evil spirits.
London Chinatown Restaurant on 27 Gerrard Street and China Café on 55 Berwick Street cater Chinese, Malayan, Thai and Singapore mouth watering savory foods. Of the inexpensive bistro-style 'noodle houses', favorite places among the tourists are Wong Kei on Wardour Street, Young Cheng on Shaftsbury Avenue, and Poons on Lisle Street. The popular Cantonese dishes on most of the menus are roast duck, won ton soup and chow mein (fried noodles).
Efforts are being made to attract more tourists to the Chinatown. Ongoing work is carried out to brighten up Chinatown even more with a new mural being erected above the car park depicting the wonderful colors and life of Chinatown and its people.
