London Bridge Station hotels
London Bridge Station
London Bridge Station is a railway terminus and underground complex situated south of the Thames River, in Southwark Borough, at the heart of the capital. The railway station was opened in 1836 and is the oldest passenger station in London. It has maintained most of its original look with just a few post-war repairs carried out. London Bridge Station not only provides access to a wide range of destinations in the city, but is also a crucial historic symbol. The area around the station has plenty of fine attractions that travellers will enjoy.
- See the spectacular Shard, a bold talismanic structure adjacent to the London Bridge station, and a perfect example of current hi-tech architecture with dazzling glass panels visible for kilometres around.
- Take a three-minute walk to Southwark Cathedral from the station and discover the wide-ranging and fascinating history of London, including monuments of famous persons linked to Bankside’s Elizabethan Theatres.
- Go to Applebee's restaurant, a neatly organized, stylish eatery with a stunning fresh décor and sample some of the finest and beautifully presented dishes in London.
London Bridge Station is situated in Central London and can be accessed via all the main transport gateways. Thameslink/First Capital Connect offers train services linking the station with Blackfriars and Kings Cross and several places to the North and South of the city to Bedford and Brighton respectively. The London Bridge bus station, visible from the railway terminus, also provides a connection from all points to the east side of the city. If approaching from Luton Airport, use a direct overground train link to the railway terminus, which will take approximately 45 minutes.
