Kensington Palace hotels
Kensington Palace is a royal residence situated in Kensington Gardens in the London borough of Kensington. The palace has been home to members of the British Royal Family since the seventeenth century and still remains the primary home of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as well as Prince Harry. Kensington Palace was famously the home of Princess Diana until her untimely death in 1997. The austere façade of Kensington Palace can often be deceiving, for it contrasts with the grandeur of the palace’s interior, whose lavishness includes ornately decorated walls, an extensive network of lovely gardens and a helicopter pad atop the palace roof.
- Take a tour of the amazing Cupola Room, whose interior and eighteenth-century musical clock make it one of the most unique rooms in London.
- Stroll through the King’s Gallery of Kensington Palace, where portraits of every English king hang regally from the ornate walls.
- Visit Kensington Palace during Halloween and take the Eerie Tour that highlights the strange sounds and occurrences that arise on the palace grounds, which are often said to be among the most haunted places in London.
Kensington Palace is connected to the extensive and efficient network of London’s public transportation system. There are several London Underground stops within walking distance of the palace, the closest being the High Street Kensington station that is just a fifteen-minute walk away. Visitors can also arrange to arrive at Kensington Palace by tour coach; however, coach rides are booked well in advance, so you must plan ahead. Although you cannot cycle in the park, Kensington Palace is situated near London’s network of bike paths, which boasts a convenient location where bikes can be chained outside.
