Covent Garden hotels
Covent Garden is a perfect destination for anyone looking for culture and entertainment whilst visiting London, but be warned that it is also very popular for thousands of other visitors and tourists. Do not let crowds put you off, however, because Covent Garden boasts at least 13 theatres, a host of boutiques and shops, and a plethora of pubs and cafes to accommodate the happy hoards. Browse art galleries and museums or visit the iconic Punch and Judy Tavern in Convent Garden Piazza. Shoppers should head to Neal Street to buy fashionable footwear, a major draw for this district.
- Enjoy masterful operas, ballets, and orchestral performances at Covent Garden's iconic Royal Opera House or watch dramas and hunt ghosts in the purportedly haunted Theatre Royal on Drury Lane.
- Explore the numerous nooks of Covent Garden Market, where you can browse handicrafts in the Apple and Jubilee Hall Markets, have a pint in an atmospheric London pub, or enjoy an impromptu street performance.
- Admire fine examples of Victorian architecture, like St. Paul's Church and the stately London Transport Museum, a venue filled with fascinating exhibits of bygone buses, trolleys, and trams.
As one of the more popular London haunts, Covent Garden is best approached by public transport due to the crowds, narrow streets, and extreme dearth of available parking. If you are bothered by the idea of underground or train fares, you should be aware that this district enforces parking laws with high fines. You can travel by train to centrally located Charing Cross station or use the underground, also called the “tube”, which offers extensive service within Covent Garden. Once you get there, you can walk to most of the major attractions.
