Charing Cross Station hotels
Charing Cross Station
Charing Cross Station is one of the busiest railway stations in London servicing both mainline rail and underground tube rail. It is much more than a railway station though, boasting an array of buildings, facilities and functions. Integrated into the complex is one of Britain’s best railway hotels – the Charing Cross, along with an office and retail stores. Charing Cross Station was opened in 1864, surviving a roof collapse in 1905, and bombing in WWII. Close to the West End, and overlooking The Strand and Trafalgar Square it is perfectly placed for sightseeing in this historical city.
- Alight from your train at Charing Cross Station, book into the Charing Cross Hotel, and in the evening catch a cab into The West End and see one of the most popular new shows in London.
- Walk from the station down The Strand to Trafalgar Square and view the famous London monument, Nelson’s Column, along with other statues, monuments and historic buildings.
- Catch another train to Covent Garden, and browse the many shops, then if time permits have a look at the Royal Opera House.
Charing Cross Station has numerous mainline and tube rail routes that service or connect to public transport links across London. A host of London bus routes stop at or nearby the station and surrounding attractions. There are so many tourist hot spots and attractions closely located around the station that getting around by walking is a practical option in many cases. If you need to go further afield, and the public transport options don’t quite fit your needs, taxicabs in provide a reliable professional service and are easily hailed in most areas.
