Buckingham Palace hotels
Visit the premier United Kingdom monarch at her official residence. All right, so she won’t be on hand to greet you, but that doesn’t change the fact that Buckingham Palace is one of the most popular tourist attractions in London. When you visit, don’t miss the changing of the guards, and do take the time to tour the palace. With State Rooms that feature paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer, and sculptures by Canova and Chantrey, the state treasures on display are worth a visit in themselves. Buckingham Palace may be one of the “simpler” royal residences but it can’t be missed.
- Tour the Royal Mews in the Buckingham Palace, where you can examine royal carriages and horses galore.
- Be a VIP on the exclusive after-hours guided tour of the London residence, where you’ll end with a glass of champagne and a 20% discount in the royal gift shop.
- Don’t miss the Changing of the Guard to get your fix of pomp and pageantry while in London; just remember to check the schedule, as it changes throughout the year.
Fly into London’s Heathrow Airport, or arrive by train on the Eurostar or Eurorail. Once you’re in the city, Buckingham Palace is easy to find, being one of the largest landmarks around Public transportation does not go directly to the palace and requires a bit of a walk. However, the “hop on, hop off” city tour buses do stop at the Palace. Victoria Station is the closest Underground station, but it’s a nicer walk Westminster Station. Just stroll west along the lake when you leave the train station, and you’ll spot Buckingham Palace at the western-most end of beautiful St James Park.
