Brixton Academy hotels
The intimate Brixton Academy is located in Brixton, South London and is one of the premier concert venues in the UK. Officially known as the O2 Academy, Brixton this building has played host to a number of major international rock acts since becoming a music venue in 1983. The theatre has undergone many changes since it first opened its doors as a cinema in 1929. Brixton Academy is now one of the largest non-arena venues in London and regularly features major acts like Madonna and Bob Dylan while maintaining its charm and small theatre feel.
- Visit Brixton Academy on one of its Club Nights, where the hottest DJ’s from around London spin records that keep the dance floor moving well into the night.
- Come to Brixton Academy in September for the Masters of Comedy Tour, a line-up of some of London’s most well known and admired comedians.
- Arrive at the club early and sip cocktails before the show, as the opening acts can often be found hanging around the bar.
People coming to Brixton Academy from London can do so in a number of ways. The Victoria Line of the London Underground stops at the Brixton station, just a short walk from the venue, and on concert nights you will see groups of black-clad concertgoers walking the streets. Parking at Brixton Academy can be tough to find, as the venue does not have its own car park, so drivers should arrive early to make sure they get a spot. Taxis usually line the streets after shows and can get late-night partiers safely back to their destinations.
