Terrible night

On first appearance the hotel seemed very nice - we paid to upgrade to a new room and were delighted with it but what they failed to mention was that there was a problem with the outside noise and we didn't get a wink of sleep as it was so noisy! It was a very long night and since then hotel have said that they are trying to make improvement but unfortunately it really spoiled our stay

Not so good hotel for weekend

The room we had was at the front of the hotel, the street noise was disruptive to a good night's sleep, the hotel must have been aware of this as they had a notice in the room saying that there was a vent which could be closed to minimise noise I have to say it did not block out the noise. Also noise from plumbing was loud during the night again disrupting sleep. There was no information booklet in the room to consult for meal times or any other hotel facilities. The rooms were "surface clean" but a good deep clean would be in order to get rid of dust etc. from ledges and corners. The leisure facilities were ok but the changing rooms would benefit from updating, again cleanliness was not up to standard. Generally the hotel looked ok but the curtains in the dining room were shabby and there was damp coming through the outside walls with the paint pealing. The car park provided had a £2 charge per 24 hours and was totally inadequate for the amount of guests with very small parking bays, works vans parked in there making parking difficult. The staff were friendly and pleasant. All in all this was a very disappointing stay and I would not recommend it to anyone who wanted to go to bed before 2am on a Friday or Saturday night.

Good Location Nice View

We wanted a hotel close to the train station and the Mercure is well placed for that. The building was formally another older hotel and it has been given the Mercure makeover and it is successful on the whole. Room had very narrow entrance and it was hard to get in but the view of the river was lovely. Free carpark around the back, through the one way system but it was pretty full when we were there. Our room was near the lifts and entrance doors to the floor and it was quite noisy so ask for a room further along the corridor. On the whole it was fine for what we wanted.

Perfect Weekend Stay

Great location if travelling by train. Restaurants, Pubs and Clubs on the doorstep. Rooms clean and quiet. Great to have the spa to relax after trailing round all the shops and a good hangover cure in the morning. Great views of the river Ness and accessible from the rear entrance for a nice stroll.

Great hotel and staffs and location

Great hotel and staffs and location but the a little disappointed with the size of the bathroom. Nevertheless the bedroom was very big and has a separate sofabed and big enough for a cot bed and perfect view of the River Ness from our room and the bar.
