High Wycombe hotels
The county of Buckinghamshire, 45 kilometres north of the country's capital, is well worth a visit, so why not check out some High-Wycombe hotels, one of the largest towns in the vicinity, with immense charm and a nice mix of historic buildings and exciting redevelopment. Find the perfect hotel for you with great member benefits by booking exclusively with HotelClub.
The pedestrianised High Street is the focal point of the town, with 18th century structures such as the Guildhall and the peculiarly shaped Cornmarket, referred to by the local community as the Pepper Pot, dominating the skyline. The Eden Shopping Centre caters for all your needs, with an eye catching Water Pole feature, attached. A characteristic of the street is the large Red Lion statue, which is a popular meeting place and a good photo opportunity. The Parish Church of All Saints is almost 1000 years old and worthy of your time; as is the High-Wycombe Swan, the town's theatre, which has become accustomed to hosting shows before they go on to the London West End.
The Hell-Fire Caves are a great visit, very spooky, but terrific fun. The museum on Priory Avenue has an intriguing collection of chairs that is strangely appealing. A couple of miles outside of High-Wycombe is Hughenden Manor, once the home of the Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, back in the mid 1800's. Wandering about the many rooms is absolutely engrossing and there are some fabulous gardens too.
Visitors can catch a train from the London Marylebone Station, The Birmingham Snow Hill or Stratford-upon-Avon to the High Wycombe train station.
