Business Trip

I think the hotel is a little run down for a 4* hotel, it's nice and roomy with alot of rooms that needs a desperate refurb, my room was quite large and had good views being on the 3rd floor, but the shower was very small and looked very dated.. probably would stay somewhere else next time...

In need of help!

Our experience of the majestic was a huge let-down. I'd always wanted to stay there so we reserved a table for dinner despite there being some very highly regarded restaurants in Harrogate. When we arrived they could not locate the booking, but sorted us out quite quickly and we were shown our large room which was almost great, but in a poor state of maintenance, tatty round the edges and with a completely unacceptable old threadbare sofa which had the stuffing hanging out. The bed was great, lots of lovely hot water...but Dinner was pretty awful, food of a poor standard, no flavour, tough meat. We think the sticky toffee pudding was a piece of shop bought ginger cake. The staff were all teenagers from overseas who didn't know what a fish knife was, so we didn't get one and had not a clue how to make a liqueur coffee. Breakfast was very ordinary B&B standard and the bar was lamentably badly stocked with totally inexperienced young staff. There are big damp stains on the ceilings in public rooms! The majestic cannot justify a 4 star rating. It needs investment in the building and staff who know how to deliver 4 star service. its very sad

Majestic Hotel Harrogate livs up to its name.

What a lovely hotel, a short walk from town centre attractions, shops and Bettys Tea Rooms. This was a very quiet and peacful sleep (4th floor) of a well restored old hotel with superb historic features. Despite a wedding party and hen night the bar was quiet, corridors quiet and the breakfast was excellent. Will certainly stay here again. Everywhere was spotless, staff were brilliant and helpful and great location to stroll into town centre or a short drive to the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr and Knaresborough. Also easy to walk to rail station for travel to York and Leeds. Car park barriers remained up all weekend so free to park.

Central locatin, close to conference centre

This hotel was once a wonderful, sumptious, elegant building, now it is rather tired and faded. The leisure facilities were quite good: I enjoyed the pool and the gym. The water in the pool is very warm, so great for kids. There was also a sauna in each changing room. Changing facilities and showers were good with hairdryers and lockers (£1.00 refundable). I quite enjoyed my stay and there was a good selection for breakfast (didn't have an evening meal there). The basic double rooms are a bit tired. The pictures on the web site are of premium rooms. My basic double was on the fourth floor. I think the better rooms are on the lower floors. My windows were filthy and my curtains torn at the bottom. The bathroom was very tired and in need of updating. The rooms were warm and quite spacious, but really not up to modern standards so i would say not value for money. I wanted somewhere central and close to the conference centre with leisure facilities so that's the only reason i chose this. Lots of places within five minutes walk to eat. If you want stylish rooms at a reasonable price, go somewhere else.

Weekend getaway

Arrived at the Majestic and checked in quickly,. The hotel is a fantastic with lots of original features. The room was ok , but the bathroom could have done with a bit of redecoration, little things like the sealant was mouldy around the bath. That was the only negative . The breakfasts were very good value with plenty of choice , The location of the hotel is perfect , just down the road from the shops , cinema ect. We will definitely be going back .

Nice stay

Having read other reviews I was not expecting too much, but I found our experience contrary to those reviews. Check in was friendly and went out of the way to find us a nice room, which was Upton executive standards apart from lack of air con. I did find paying for parking put me on guard for bill padding, I noticed a £5 charge per tray for room service. Overall very good value,. Charles

A high end hotel right next to

A high end hotel right next to Harrogate town. Very grand with a large choice of a variety of rooms. Good gym, pool and Spa area. Though over 100 years old our room was modern, contemporary and well designed. I would recommend again though it sesm to attract a few hen party's but of the more mature variety.
