Two wee travellers

Hotel was exceptional. By staying at the Glasgow Pond Hotel (GPH) gave us a sense of relaxation and tranquility. The room was comfortable in size and we had tea making facilities which to us was an important part of the package. Breakfast was excellent and very good value. We had dinner with relatives at the restaraunt in the GPH, service, food and wine were of high standard. Being a short distance from the city was also very good. Bus service along great western was awesome, on time and friendly drivers. Bought a five day city link pass for £65 which allowed us to tour the highlands of Scotland from Inverary, Fort William, Oban (the bus stops at the Gartnavel bus stop just across the street from the GPH), Edinburgh, Dundee and that wonderful town of St Andrews. The lake situated on the property had ducks and swans which added to the ambience of this hotel. When visiting Glasgow again, our first stop would be the GPH.

Perfect for Us

We spent 7 nights in our favourite hotel in Glasgow. We've stayed there on 4 of our trips to Europe. Our latest trip was Sept. 2014. We are familiar with this end of the city which is accessible by train and bus to downtown. Most of our remaining friends and relatives live in this area so it's a perfect location for us. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day especially the porridge. We really like the Italian restaurant just beside it and have eaten there frequently. All the staff have always seemed well trained and most were extremely helpful and solved any problem you had. We visited Friends and relatives and took them for drives with us to Loch Lomond and Paisley. We also went to The Rest and Be Thankful above Arrochar We ate in one of my favourite restaurants there The Village Inn. I had the best sticky toffee Pudding in Scotland there. The hotel has been kept up to standard with modern and clean looking rooms. We will stay there again on our net trip to Scotland probably a year from now.l

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Try the Italian restaurant beside the hotel if you want to treat yourself to a first class dining experience. Also a short walk through the grounds of the hospital behind the hotel will take you to the train station which will quickly take you into downtown Glasgow.

Good basic hotel

The room was okay but very hot without air conditioning. No fridge. Shampoo but no conditioner or body lotion. Breakfast buffet great and staff friendly and quite obliging. The restaurant serves good food. We stayed for 11 nights which we booked online. I then extended our stay for an extra 2 nights through the hotel. The rate went up 30 pounds a night and although I was assured it included breakfast it did not and they would not include it without extra payment. After staying for 13 nights I thought this unreasonable. The hotel has weddings on the weekend and it is very noisy.

Wonderful 11 day stay

Having experienced other hotels on a 12 day bus trip with Trafalgar tours just before our stay and 4 days after this in another hotel for 4 days we had 9 other hotels to compare the Pond to. We also stayed in 6 B&Bs. Comparing all these accommodations only the Blu Radisson in Glasgow beat out the Pond Hotel.

Value on a budget

Stayed for a week while moving into a flat in the west end. + price, free wifi, very comfortable bed, close to rail and bus network, M&S express next door, free parking, quite area (expect Saturday night/when there is a function on in the hotel) - distance from Bynes st and the city centre if you are planning on walking and if you are in a room over their function area expect no sleep. I wouldn't stay again on a Saturday, but would be happy to any other night.

Excellent location and value, great staff

After 30 hour journey, staff were able to check me in a couple of hours early and were friendly. The location is terrific, loads of car parking and bus stop and taxi rank nearby. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Shower had best water pressure ever. Marks and Spencer Simply Food store in adjacent BP Garage very handy. Second visit and won't be the last if visiting Glasgow.

Hotel with parking

For the price it was good value,as it included breakfast daily, car parking is available, on the downside there is a hospital behind the hotel, which you do hear the ambulance sirens even at night.they do have a function room where you can hear the music but the music stops at midnight. We stayed here for three weeks and this was the only hotel where we have heard doors constantly banging
