With five main exhibition halls and with an area over 22,000 square metres, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre is the largest exhibition centre in Scotland. The north bank of the River Clyde gives it a lovely view of both the water and the Glasgow skyline. With so much going for it, it’s no wonder that the SECC is known for hosting large concerts and events. Past concerts have spanned the range from Luciano Pavarotti to Guns ‘n Roses. Events have included the BBC Good Food Show, the Glasgow auditions of the X Factor, and even golf shows. There’s truly something to see for everyone at the SECC.
- Attend annual shows like the Scottish Fashion Awards or see a concert from a wide range of acts like Tenacious D and Blink-182.
- Rest a bit at McColls on the main concourse, where you can absorb some reading material, snacks, and other sundries.
- Stay at the fifteen-storey Forum Hotel while you’re visiting Glasgow (note that even though the floors go to 16, there is no 13th floor).
You can get to Glasgow by rail, air, or road, and then you’ll find that the city itself is quite compact, built on an easy-to-navigate grid system, and has fantastic public transportation. All of this makes it simple and safe to get around without a car. Located on the Clyde River, the SECC takes up 64 acres of land with lots of space for parking your car. If you prefer public transportation in Glasgow to driving yourself, you can disembark at the SECC’s Exhibition Centre station on the Argyle Line.
