Tropical overnight stay!

Staff were lovely. Found getting around it a bit of a maze with lifts tucked away. Bedroom was quaint, bathroom very nice indeed. We went mid-Dec and had to turn the radiators off and open the window in the night and still found it too hot to sleep. I like warm but it was equatorial! We thought breakfast was included and got a nasty shock when we came to pay. So check on that.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Easily within walkable distance of the castsle, German market we went mid-Dec), nice restaurant opposite but others close by. Shops en route to the Castle or on the other side of the station. It's perfect for the train station.

Great hotel

We stayed in Edinburgh for two nights, one of which was our 10th wedding anniversary. The staff were wonderful especially assisting us with our luggage during the pouring rain and booking us a table at a fantastic Thai restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The hotel is very centrally located, just down from the Royal Mile, and is in a great spot to visit Edinburgh's tourist attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

Hugely Disappointing

My partner surprised me with a weekend away in Edinburgh for my birthday......in a 5* hotel she said....I have no idea who gave the hotel this rating because it couldn't be further from the truth. Let me start with the positives: - The locations is fantastic - The staff are friendly and helpful - The turn-down service was good. The negatives: - Our room was tiny, no bigger than an average bedroom in a flat. - The view from our window was well....there wasn't one. We looked straight out onto a wall. - The bed was no bigger than a standard double and the mattress was awful with springs coming through. - The hair dryer broke within seconds of being turned on - The television remote was broken - The room itself, whilst not awfully decorated, was so far below what I know to be five star it really was a joke. - The robes had obviously been round the wash a few thousand times as they were rock hard - The slippers must have been a size 5 - no man could have worn them. All in all, the hotel fell well short of expectations. If I were rating it, it would struggle to get more than 2-3 stars, let alone 5. I just felt sorry for my partner who had spent over £250 on 2 nights in what she thought was going to be a special hotel. It really did leave a bad taste in the mouth after what was a great weekend in a great city. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone and shall stick to the Radisson Blu or equivalent from now on.

Fantastic hotel in the perfect location definately lives up to its reputation of 5 stars

Booked an overnight stay through the internet after reading the excellent reviews. It was a treat for myself and my husband and his Aunt and Uncle who were staying with us for a couple of nights from Welwyn in Kent as they wanted to celebrate the New Year in Scotland. They also thought that the hotel was excellent and for what we paid for our ovenight stay was excellent value for money. We were also entitled to full use of the spa facilities which were also excellent. What made our stay special too we were treated like royalty the staff could not do enough for us and were on hand if we needed anything. We were upgraded from a study to a deluxe suite it was superb. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of looking for a special treat and the location is excellent. Definately book this hotel again in the future.

Excellent Luxury City Centre Hotel

This hotel was luxurious with a traditional feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Received a free upgrade which was a bonus. The room was lovely and the deep roll top bath set within a turret withe a great view was an unexpected lovely extra. Price for this 2 night stay was excellent, hope to be lucky enough to return to this hotel for another stay.

Great place for a short stay

When we first arrived at the hotel, we were a little confused as there are multiple entrances but once we were inside it was fine as we were greeted by the wonderful staff. We got taken to our room and our view was amazing. We could see what felt like the whole of edinburgh. It is opposite waverly station and other wonderful things such as the dungeons and the shopping centre. If you walk up the steps next to the hotel you can visit the castle. The hotel room was very nice, but i was a little disappointed with the bed as they had just pushed two single beds together. This was slightly uncomfortable when lying on the middle of the bed. If you are tall then the bed would of been to short for you! The bathroom was really nice and the shower was devine. I've never really stayed in many hotels, so i don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was definitely worth the money and worth that time away. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody.

We found a cinema and nandos and bowling and a whole load of other things situated about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. It was easy enough to find and made our trip more fun.

Excellent Edinburgh Hote

This is the second time we've stayed here and I'm delighted to say it's still as great as it was the first time. It's an excellent hotel in every aspect and having stayed in many of the best hotels in Edinburgh I would definitely recommend this as the very best of them all.
