Dining

Bar & Restaurant
The cuisine at Blackwood's Bar and Grill is natural, fresh and often organic, with ingredients farmed, caught, raised or bred in Scotland. Our beef has been raised in a traditional and sustainable manner in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, our rare-breed pork and lamb are organically farmed in the rolling hills of the Scottish borders and our fish is from the Highland lochs and North Sea. The food is prepared in a Josper charcoal grill to retain foods natural moisture and flavour and with over 25 Scotch whisky blends and single malts, our bar also focuses on local flavours.

Great location hotel good but not great

Probably the most beautiful location in Inverness -- hotel offers standard amenities though be aware that Wi-Fi and parking are NOT complementary if you do not book directly with the hotel. Breakfast was good for this level of hotel and service was very good. One downside: the lounge/obby is a pretty dreary space if you like to spend time in the hotel's public spaces. Also, be sure not to book a room above the dining room if you like to sleep late.

Terrific location lovely experience

What makes this hotel particularly nice is the friendly & professional staff service and its location in a quiet part of Edinburgh's historically stunning new town. It's off the beaten (heavily touristic) path but very close to the Raeburn Place shopping/restaurant district. The hotel doesn't offer much in terms of lobby amenities (no lounge save a small bar and the dining room) and has no elevator -- probably not ideal if one has mobility issues. Rooms are compact but well kitted-out, bathrooms a bit less so and could use a re-fresh. Breakfast is consistently delicious staff was incredibly welcoming, gracious and professional w/r/t any needed services. Probably not the best choice if you have children as it's geared to an adult audience.

Edinburgh gem

A great little boutique just on the City central edge. Easy walking into and around central and all the good spots. The Blackwood's bistro does excellent fare as well. Try Nira-Caledonia on your first or next Edinburgh stay.
