relaxing time in Edinburgh

The hotel could not be faulted for comfort, cleanliness, location & amenities. The staff were very warm, genuine, friendly & helpful throughtout. We were a party of 4 out for a weekend at the theatre & a bit of sight seeing and shopping. Great time had by all, the hotel room was great value, however the drinks in the bar were rather pricey, due to this we visited the local pubs for a drink, had the hotels drinks been in line with the area prices we would gladly have stayed at the hotel. This is the only area I would say the hotel could review and reflect on reducing prices for wine & spririts in accordance with the other bars in the area. Overall I would definately go back to this hotel. fantastic.

Scotland vs. South Africa

Booked hotel at last minute to go through for the rugby game and to catch up with some old friends. Hotel is in a great location, room was spacious, very clean and warm (given the outside weather was very cold), staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It was literally a five minute walk onto the Royal Mile with lots of great restaurants and cafe bars around. We also walked Arthur's seat first thing on the Sunday morning before breakfast - views are stunning. Would highly recommend it.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Try Jimmy Chungs at Waverley station for all you can eat buffet, it's not the quantity which suprised me, it was the quality of the food.

Edinburgh Fringe Trip

The staff were efficient and welcoming. The room was a good size and looked on to the Scottish Parliament building (it was a rear room). It was comfortable and clean. There was a large stain on the carpet where obviously someone had spilled something some time ago, but otherwise everything was pristine. The location was excellent, off the beaten track a bit, therefore quiet; but within a short walk of the Royal Mile (up a side lane), the Scottish Parliament and transport to other facilities and venues. We had booked for 2 nights to attend some Fringe theatre events and it was an ideal base, particularly for the early starts. We did not opt for the breakfast package, as, in line with other hotels, it seemed a bit pricey to us. There are plenty of small cafes or pubs nearby in Edinburgh where they do cheaper breakfasts. I would certainly consider booking this hotel again as I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I found it really good value, especially considering that we visited at the start of the Festival.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Clarinda's cafe on the Royal Mile, five minutes walk from the hotel, up the side lane (warning - Edinburgh is hilly, lots of stairs!) They do a great breakfast and all their cakes, etc are home-made.

Great location for royal Mile and local attractions

waste of money paying extra for club room facilities, and access to library fora canapés and drinks. 2 dried up canapés on over with half a glass of champagne and staff disappear. Big let down and noticed by other guests. Hotel let themselves down badly here. If they offer this service then deliver!

Good Hotel.

I feel a lot of these reviews are prepared by members of staff or their relations so firstly I am NOT a member of staff and never heard of this hotel before my booking. It is situated centrally in Edinburgh - about 2 minutes walk from Parliament and 10 minutes from the bottom of Arthur's Chair. The hotel itself was perfect and staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms were very clean. Our room was a good size. Did not eat breakfast - cost too much. We are used to travelling but have rarely come across such helpful and friendly staff.

Very good Hotel.Car parking at £20 per night I think was very unreasonable and due to this I probably won't stay here on my next visit, apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

An efficiently run hotel with

An efficiently run hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Well positioned with only a short stroll to the Royal Mile, yet in a quiet area. Did not try the food as there is an abundance of 'chain' and local restaurants throughout the city.
