Nice experience

Nice location, only 10 minutes taxi from railway. Station and easy to walk to city centre. Clean and tidy room which is also very quiet . The boy in reception is really nice, he recommended us a fine restaurant to have an amazing dinner. In general, it Was a good experience.

Wonderful stay, great value, beautiful hotel, helpful staff

We stayed at the Edinburgh City Hotel for a week between 31/3-07/04. The hotel is in walking distance from the Grassmarket , The Castle, Royal Mile and Princess Street. There is a bus stop just around the corner, Supermarket nearby and everything you need is really Close. The room we stayed was very quiet and warm, and the bed was very soft. We had hot water all the time, room service and facilities for tea and coffee. We can't say enough for how helpful the staff at the reception was. We are very happy for our choice and if we visit again beautiful Edinburgh we will definitely stay here again and inform any possible future visitors. Thank You for making our stay really beautiful(we had the best night sleeps after all day walks around the city).

Great stay in a great city

The hotel is comfortable and historical. The room was bigger than I expected. It is not really centrally located but is a nice enough walk to the main attractions. Only down side was that the room was not ready on arrival (nearly midday) and I had to wait until 2pm. I am not sure that any effort was made to put me in a room earlier than this.

Concert getaway

We booked Edinburgh City Hotel for its proximity to The Usher Hall which was 5 minute walk away. Very clean, great friendly professional staff throughout. Comfortable airy room. Had evening meal which was very good and excellent value, breakfast just as good. Would not hesitate to stay again. If you are a light sleeper and want a lie in ask for a room off Laurieston Place as traffic may wake you from 7am ish. Princes Street is a 10 to 15 min walk for those who can't stay out of shops.

Great location, house keeping issues

Had to shout for someone to check us in, as no bell and no one around. Room was spacoius, modern and clean. Not enough coat hangers, and TV which was supposed to have over 50 channels, only had good reception on 3. Soap, toilet rolls, biscuits etc, not replaced daily to how they were when we checked in. Hotel in great location for old town, about 10 min walk, and can walk back from new town along a main road in about 15 mins. Number 35 bus goes to very near hotel direct from airport for only £1,40.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Must eat at the "Secret Garden " at the Witchery, about a 15 to 20 min walk. Also Maxies a fab place, only a 10 min walk away.
