Royal Museum hotels
The Royal Museum is located in central Edinburgh, Scotland, and is part of the National Museum network. The National Museums of Scotland were formed in 1985 and include both the Museum of Scotland and the Royal Museum that are next door to one another. The museum houses collections relating to science and technology, world culture and natural history displayed in interesting exhibits. Construction on the original building was finished in 1888 and it has since been renovated many times, including in 1998, when it was linked to the Museum of Scotland by an internal walkway.
- Learn about the fascinating world of Egypt in the “Ancient Egypt” exhibit at the Royal Museum, a collection of artefacts and antiquities that will transport you from Edinburgh to the pyramids of Egypt.
- Visit the South Pacific Gallery of the Royal Museum while in Edinburgh and you will see a robust collection of exhibits that tell the story of the remote island cultures of the South Pacific.
- Explore the Grand Gallery of the museum to see more than 800 pieces of art and artefacts from various time periods.
The Royal Museum is situated at the heart of Old Town Edinburgh just a few minutes away from the Royal Mile, so it is easy to find using public transportation or by walking. If you are taking the train, get off at the Edinburgh Waverly station that is just a short walk away from the Royal Museum. There are also several bus routes that pass nearby stopping at George IV Bridge or South Bridge, both of which are within walking distance. Those who want to cycle will find ample bicycle parking on Chambers Street outside of the museum.
