Ratho Station hotels
Ratho Station is one of Edinburgh's suburbs, situated near the city's airport at Turnhouse. The village takes its name from the nearby railway station where in 1917 a terrible rail accident killed 12 people. Although small, consisting of just a few hundred houses and residents, Ratho Station is interesting to visit because of its picturesque atmosphere and its Scottish industrial architecture. The fact that the suburb is so near the airport and major motorways makes it a great stopover when travellers need to spend the night in Edinburgh and a quiet place to stay.
- Visit the railway station for which Ratho Station derived its name, because although its infamy might not be pleasant, it is still interesting to see the place where the famous accident outside the city of Edinburgh took place.
- Get an adrenaline rush on the indoor racing tracks or with the simulated combat experience in the outdoor arena at Xtreme Karting in nearby Newbridge.
- Hire a bike and enjoy biking along the cycle path that connects Ratho Station to Edinburgh, as an alternative way of travelling to the city and seeing its sights.
Travellers who are driving to Ratho Station from the centre of Edinburgh can take the A8 towards the airport and take the exit towards Ratho Station at the Newbridge Roundabout. Travellers can also take the X48 bus from the city centre, which runs every 30 minutes. Those who are looking to get to Ratho Station from the Edinburgh Airport can take a taxi, which takes just a few minutes and might be the best option if there is a lot of luggage that needs to be transported. Visitors can also hire a car at the airport.
