Polwarth is a small residential village and parish situated in Scottish Borders area of Edinburgh. The town has a storied history that dates back to 13th century when the first church was erected in the area. Polwarth continued to develop and became a popular place for the poor, which is reflected in the large number of tenements that still exist today. Now, its proximity to Edinburgh has made it a coveted location for affluent people from the city to buy houses and there are a number of new restaurants and green spaces that were built to accommodate them.

- Take a walk along the paths lining the Union Canal that flows through Polwarth to Edinburgh and you can enjoy the swans and other wildlife on this scenic walk.
- See the ruins of Polwarth Castle that are situated in between the city centre and the parish and you will get a glimpse of some of the town’s medieval architecture.
Polwarth is situated just outside of the city centre of Edinburgh, so it is not hard to reach using public transportation or private car. There are trains that go directly from the city centre to Polwarth, stopping at the main railway station. You can also catch trains there that go to other major cities around Scotland. There are also bus routes that pass through town, so just check the schedule at the main Edinburgh bus station and you will quickly find transport this neighbourhood. Once there you can get around on foot.
