National Gallery of Scotland
The National Gallery of Scotland is situated in a neoclassical building on The Mound in central Edinburgh, Scotland. The gallery has been open since 1859, and houses the country’s best collection of fine art from the beginning of the Renaissance through to the beginning of the 20th century. The building itself was designed by William Henry Playfair, and the first stone was laid by Prince Albert. Since then, the National Gallery of Scotland has been the epicentre of fine arts in Edinburgh and contains several masterpieces including paintings by Jacopo Bassano and Giambattista Tiepolo.

Those with private cars should leave them at home as the gallery has very limited on-site parking.
